Never been shot, was shot at back in college.
I worked at this shitty little cell phone place deep in the ghetto in BR. Way down Airline where white people typically don't venture. The bank the business used was right across the street. One day they asked me to go over and make a deposit real quick. I walked over and made the deposit, I was walking back across the parking lot and heard a single shot and it hit in the bushes about 10 yards away from me. I dove behind a parked truck and looked to see if I could tell where it came from but saw nothing. I then went in and told them what happened, they just brushed it off as no bug deal.
I suspect that someone saw a white boy leaving the bank and assumed that I had taken some cash out, so they took a long shot. If they knocked me down, run over and empty my pockets, if not duck out. I quit a couple of weeks later. Scared the shite out of me.

I’ve been shot at in Peru back in the day when I was with a group mining for gold. They tried to hijack our caravan but lucky for us we were armed and fired back. Scared the living shite out of me but had a few ex military with us that had assault rifles.

No but had a cannon discharge and almost blow a few fingers off does that count? Just burned really bad ears ringing for a while. Still have shrapnel in both hands that show up on xrays.

Was shot in robbery attempt in 1986. It was at late night, I was in college waiting tables and tending bar at a popular chain restaurant.
At the end of my shift, I was taking bags of garbage to the dumpster. As I was putting the bags in the trash, I heard a sound behind me, and turned to see someone in a gorilla mask and a .22 handgun pointed at my face.
I freaked out and swung a bag of garbage at the dude. I saw a bright flash, and heard a loud bang. Next thing I know, I'm laying flat on my back.
I got up, ran back into the restaurant, and told the closest person I saw, "I've been shot."
Went to the restroom, looked in the mirror, and could see a small hole about an inch to the left of my Adam's apple. It was barely bleeding.
The managers called for an ambulance and I was taken to the hospital. X-rays were taken and the slug was lodged in my throat. Apparently, the bullet hit my vertebrae and ricocheted.
The doctors went to remove it, but felt it might be better to leave it. Still carrying it to this day. Everytime I get an x-ray the technician says, "What is that? Is that a bullet?

My first pistol was a POS Jennings 9mm. First time shooting it, the firing pin shot out the rear and cut me right above the eye.
I subsequently took a CNC to that POS pistol. Rip.
