Used to go to the eaa show in Wisconsin, tried to take a picture of one and it was just a blur. I don’t know what it was, I was just a kid, I think first gen stealth

Live about an hour from Whiteman AFB and have scene them a number of times while driving down I-70 in Mo. It’s definitely an oh shite, look at that moment cause you won’t see them cruising during maneuvers until they bank, then it’s a scene out of Independence Day. Got lucky last fall, I was dicking around on my phone waiting on the wife & daughter in the Academy Sports parking lot and hear this rumble of Freedom and look up through the sunroof and there’s one banking right above me. They were just doing circuits around Columbia before kickoff and their fly-by, it was a hell of a show for about 20 minutes.

I have. A flyover in Midland, Texas.

Same here. I have seen damn near anything that Flys

I've seen both do flyovers. The B-1 was the loudest fricking thing that I'd ever heard.

Okay, I have been under the potentially mistaken impression that while it flew in some combat sorties in 1998 and then in 2001-2004, that it was not really seeing much use now.

Yes, at AFB air shows at Barksdale and Tinker (OKC). They did a demonstration and flyby at Barksdale once when I was a teen. You couldn't hear it or see it until it was too late.

Insofar as we're not heavily engaged with any weapon system, currently, this is a pointless statement, IMHO.

You are correct that this impression is mistaken. Reasonably active in Libya and Syria (when those theaters were hot), heavily active in Afghanistan from 2012 onward, IIRC.
(ETA: They had a more passive, overwatch role in Iraq.)
Also ETA: This is a B2 thread, but my posts are answering UB's questions about the B1.

Yes, so much that it broke the Bone. It wasn’t designed to land with a full load of weapons and after so many years in combat, not all of which they dropped, has taken its toll on the jet.

Fair enough, but they usually lampshade this drawback by directly addressing it with a line of dialogue like “The B2 fleet is being refitted and will be out of commission for months.” Just something to assuage the back-of-the-mind questions the audience would have considering most Top Gun audience members know about stealth technology and have known for 30 years.
******SPOILERS!!!!!******
While this is true to a point, I vaguely remember in the initial briefing that they mentioned the walls of the canyon were too steep to preclude a LGB strike from an aircraft utilizing a typical bomb drop angle.
An F-117 nighthawk would not have the maneuverability to ingress from the canyon below the radar of the S-300's.
Remember they said the response time for the bad guys was @ 3 mins to get to the reactor site, so the lack of speed by a B-2, would have made it a sacrificial lamb to the bad guy's 5th Gen fighters, if not on ingress than definitely on egress. And we probably are not cool with losing A/C that cost 2.1 Billion a pop.

Had a layover in Kansas city and I was gazing out the window as we were approaching final descent. Saw two of them zoom by probably a couple miles below. Was really fricking sweet.

Same. Saw several B1 at Dyess with a friend in the 80s. His dad was a fighter pilot in his day.

Yes at Barksdale AFB. Had one at the air show several years back. A truly beautiful piece of engineering. Have seen the B-2, and B-1 there. Last air show had the F-22 and it put on one hell of a show. After seeing the F-22 it’s what I hope the government spends my personal tax dollars on because I don’t mind helping to pay for something that bad arse.

Was flying to SLC and saw one fly perpendicular below our plane.

Saw one take off near the Dayton 500 when I was young

Oh, in an inversion of the typical trope of Reagan being tough on defense and tough on government waste, his made a political blunder one time that got us the wasteful B1 bomber.
He noticed Carter was shutting down the B1 program, which had a lot of jobs at stake in California. To win the Californian voters over, he used the B1 shutdown to claim Carter was soft on defense and was hurting Californian jobs.
But in reality, Carter was briefed on the waste the B1 program was incurring and how the B2 would be a superior bomber. But Carter couldn’t talk about the B2 because it was classified.
So, Reagan gets elected and finds out about the B2 program, but can’t renege on his campaign promise to re-start the B1 program and so we get two bombers built for the same mission.
I know the B1 got built, but was it ever used in combat?
Yeah that’s why Carter lost
