I’ve listened to a lot of Ram Dass and he talks about having his initial breakthrough doing psilocybin. His friend Timothy Leary said he learned more about the mind in twelve hours than all his life in the behavioral health field. They were both professors at Harvard.

Just curious-anyone ever had an experience like this?

I wouldn't mess around with LSD but some of those ketamine centers are supposed to be legit. Think there's drug development going on for a nasal ketamine spray to treat depression.

The person to discover it sure did.

Also, there's a lot of interesting studies being done at John Hopkins and other places using psilocybin, lsd and other psychedelics. They show a lot of promise with things like PTSD, drug/alcohol addiction, depression, etc.

They also do a lot of work with terminal cancer patients. Most come out changed and say they can face their fate with an open mind and a feeling of relief after they did their sessions.

It's really interesting and it's a shame research was stopped for so long bc of the counter culture the drug became associated with.

Yes. Watched an NBA game years ago on shrooms. Luol Deng was going off for the Bulls. The breakthrough I had was just how much more athletic these guys were than the average human. Luol Deng man.

I’ve already done the nasal ketamine. It’s a high, but short lived. I never got an intense dose of anything.

I took a hit of acid and headed to my local bar to play pool. I had the table from 7:30 until I finally got tired of playing around 11:00.

Pretty fun night

I've always thought the breakthrough I had was more the conscience desision to try those drugs inspite of my reluctance. I think that lead me to be more open minded in my decisions more than the actual experience of being high on those drugs. Kind of like people that parachute for the first time say it changed their life.

My grandfather used to have a farm out in Slaughter. We used to go pick shrooms out there. I was fairly young so didn't eat too many, only a couple. That's probably the happiest I've ever been in my life. All I did was laugh at everything. I just remember everything feeling real good and everything being funny.

I'm out in Cali now and have been doing a lot of research on it again. Bc of my past I've had a lot of issues with depression. I'd love to do a session or 2 a see if I can come away with anything.

A lot of the therapists say it allows their clients to open up and freely talk about things and also they say its shown to help to remember horrible experiences that have been forgotten and to be able to talk about them freely instead of keeping them suppressed.

For anyone curious, the way Hofmann discovered it is pretty remarkable. It was a complete accident, only recognized to him when the effects started to hit him. Then he took a large dose on purpose and the rest is history....
quote:

1929 Hofmann became an employee of the pharmaceutical/chemical department of Sandoz Laboratories (now a subsidiary of Novartis) as a coworker of Arthur Stoll, founder and director of the pharmaceutical department.[8] He began studying the medicinal plant Drimia maritima (squill) and the fungus ergot as part of a program to purify and synthesize active constituents for use as pharmaceuticals. His main contribution was to elucidate the chemical structure of the common nucleus of the Scilla glycosides (an active principle of Mediterranean squill).[8] While researching lysergic acid derivatives, Hofmann first synthesized LSD on 16 November 1938.[9] The main intention of the synthesis was to obtain a respiratory and circulatory stimulant (analeptic) with no effects on the uterus in analogy to nikethamide (which is also a diethylamide) by introducing this functional group to lysergic acid. It was set aside for five years, until 16 April 1943, when Hofmann reexamined it and discovered its powerful effects.[10] He described what he felt as being:

... affected by a remarkable restlessness, combined with a slight dizziness. At home I lay down and sank into a not unpleasant intoxicated[-]like condition, characterized by an extremely stimulated imagination. In a dreamlike state, with eyes closed (I found the daylight to be unpleasantly glaring), I perceived an uninterrupted stream of fantastic pictures, extraordinary shapes with intense, kaleidoscopic play of colors. After some two hours this condition faded away.[11]

Three days later, on 19 April 1943, Hofmann intentionally ingested 250 micrograms of LSD. This trip was not as pleasant, as he said those around him appeared to become demons, furniture shifted into wicked creatures and he himself felt demonically possessed. This day is now known as "Bicycle Day", because he began to feel the effects of the drug as he rode home on a bike. This was the first intentional LSD trip.[12]

cattle farm? I see little shrooms growing out of cow manure but I don't know if they're the psychedelic kind. Never bothered to research it

LSD isn't worth it. Too much risk of potentiating latent psych issues, plus who wants to trip for like 15 hours? Apparently, the pre-ban stuff from the early 60s was far less "mindshattering" was the word they used in the literature I read. It's quite an interesting drug, but I'll never take it again.

Shrooms are great. Micro to moderate doses mostly just make me giggle a lot, see slight abberations of color, and have great conversation. Big doses get wild. Not recommended for inexperienced users.

I absolutely see why shrooms have come to be used for therapeutic reasons. A good trip has a way of cleaning out my cobwebs and sort of psychologically refreshing me, and microdosing really does seem to have little to no negative side effects for me.

Nope. I threw up and tried to touch a bat that was hanging out on our porch.

Prefer bourbon.

Yes. In 1991 I was day tripping sitting in the sand on the riverbank contemplating about me soon going off to chiropractic school. It dawned on me there that I was about to spend the rest of my life in a room with 4 walls popping peoples backs. I threw all my preparations away and changed course.

The combo LSD and Jerry Clower will blow your mind. It was right then and there I decided to buy patents for a living.
