sold my high school ring in my last semester of college. Had one installment of tuition left to pay and had no student loans. Wasn't about to start. Pawned it and got $390 for it. this was back in 2011. Worth it..

both of those are pointless

The only caveat I would make is if your college is a known "ring knocker" school they can be useful. My college was one and fortunately, the standard ring was a fairly subdued signet ring and I wore mine for about 20 years until it got covered in an expanding foam accident and I never bothered to get it cleaned. Over the years I built a network of contacts I would have never realized existed and to this day I get discounts and/or expedited service at quite a few businesses. Not nearly as widespread as the service academies but I was constantly surprised at the value of that ring.

Sold my college ring. Still have my HS ring. My son is going to use it, when he graduates, as a "legacy ring". Will have both graduating years on it...

How much would a new school ring cost you these days?

what does someone even do with that?
Well, mine is put up in a bag with my dad's and grandpa's. Some day my son will add his to the bag and then his son and his son after him. Somewhere down the line, when none of the world's currency is worth a damn, my hope is that one of my descendants will have just enough gold to sustain himself on hookers and blow right up until the end of the world.

still have my HS ring even tho I wasn't particularly fond of my HS. Wear my college ring everyday....has some family meaning tied to it beyond being a college ring so I'm very sentimental about that

TBH I have no idea why I haven't sold my HS ring...might look into that

I got a HS ring because seemingly everyone else did, what a dumb purchase. I didn't get a college ring because I learned my lesson.

Who the hell on the secondary market would want a Class of 2007 ring for my high school with my name on it? Unless it was for scrap or I become famous, it's worthless.

My dad gave me the option of a high school ring or a new rifle. I've probably killed 75 deer with that rifle.

I did the same thing but recently ran into my high school sweetheart and she still had my ring. After 25 yrs, I have my ring back.

I have my high school ring in my family lockbox at the bank. I’ll give it to one of my kids if they want it otherwise it’ll just stay there

I didn’t get a college ring when I graduated I was buying an engagement ring instead

I wasn't going to get one but my mom talked me into it, glad I did, it's a really good looking ring, better looking than the LSU ring, wish I knew where it was

My parents kept my high school ring and gave it to me a few years ago when my mom was cleaning out a jewelry box. It now resides in my wife jewelry box never to be worn again. I wanted to sell it for the gold but wife declined that option. I believe I wore it once or twice. I don’t wear jewelry so I have no need for it.
