Has anyone actually been hired by applying through USAjobs?

When I got out of the military, everyone told me about USAjobs. All I heard about was applying with them.
Me and several of my friends have applied to a number of postings on there. In my case, I'm typically pretty overqualified for the position. If I actually hear anything back at all, it usually takes 6 months for them to get back to you with a "received" status. Most of the time the position is closed out and they're no longer going to hire for it.
I'm starting to question if anyone has ever had a legitimate job offer from USAjobs. How long does the process actually take?

Being overqualified turns off the people hiring as you have to realize people are always trying to get a higher GS position after they get their foot in the door.
You fricked your self over by not being worthless

Haha thanks.
I got out as an E-5 and have even put in for GS3 and 4 positions.

A lot of the jobs on USAjobs are just formalities -- they already know who they're going to hire. It's called nepotism and networking

I have a Federal gov job but it was never listed on USA jobs. Really helps to know someone who can get your resume in the right hands

If you're a vet it's incredibly easy to get a fed job on USAjobs

I 100% believe that they already have the person selected for those jobs before listing them. I've been a perfect candidate on the 10 or so jobs that I've applied for. And I get veteran's points. Never even gotten so much as a phone call. I did receive an email that stated that I was "well qualified" for the position, but my application would not be forwarded to the hiring personnel for an interview. Why would you not interview a well qualified applicant that's also a vet?

I applied a few jobs and never even got a turndown email or interview.
That place is full of crap.
If you see a job listed on there, go the agencies website and see if its listed there. Its been a few years since I gave up on that site.

Two questions
1. As a recent vet, why are you focusing on GS jobs?
2. I can help. I recently transitioned successfully and so did my wife. I've helped orher vets. If you'd like to interact, leave an email you would like me to use

Yep. This is the case with most jobs now. Find out who the hiring manager is and mail them directly. Might take several tries but eventually someone will open up.

I'm not recently separated. Got off IRR in 14 and got a bachelors in CJ.
VA disability rating is 50%
I've had nothing but office positions since 2014 so I think I'd be fairly qualified for a lot of federal occupations. If you can help, I'd absolutely appreciate it.

One of mine says Im among the most qualified candidates. Still havent heard anything. Another one a few years ago never heard anything back and then talked to someone in the department and they told me that it was just someone who wanted to move from Houston back to New Orleans and thats why the job was listed. No one had a shot and still im sure people were applying. I am very qualified in a small field with not an overabundance of good employees. I do well at my job but the benefits of a federal job are excellent.

Yes. I got out as an E6 but the last few months of my of my 5yr enlistment was applying online but then kicking down doors. The USAjobs is necessary but if you want to get hired you need face time with the man. The Boss at where I wanted to work was sick of seeing me in his office. I knew I was qualified for the job (ATC12 150k ish) and I basically implied that the easiest way to get me out of his face was to hire me. I haven't seen him since.

This. Exactly this. Don't stop trying though.
But, for the most part what he said above.
