3,000 homes estimated to be flooded in Friendswood, and only 1,000 have flood insurance.
According to KPRC.

Houston: Fu Garden on San Felipe is open now with only a small crowd and full menu. Just scored some General Tsao's chicken with mixed fried rice.
Nice!!! I used to work across the street at Tanglewood Plaza. Ate a whole bunch of Fu's Garden back in the day.
By the way... when did they build that HEB?

That's one of the hardest parts. The rebuild will be a pain in the arse dealing with insurance and contractors, but being unsettled for dwelling wears on you. I was out of my house for 11 months after the BR flood, and even living with in-laws rent free was draining for all parties involved. My heart goes out to them, I know what they're feeling all too well.
Bless them.

Found this perspective interesting. Nat Geo photographer calmly documents her mother's house as it floods and also her sisters flooded house.

About 2 years ago. Place is huge.
And it honestly wasn't as packed just now as it normally is on a Sunday afternoon.

Hardest part of last year's flood was watching my parents have to decide what to keep and what to throw away after 40 years at same location only to hire a POS contractor who stole money from them. Finally got them back in house in May and the POS contractor and wife were both arrested yesterday. Hope they rot in jail but that won't happen.

We have blue skies in Lafayette.
Better us than Houston ATM.
A little flash flooding and some people traumatized from last year is all we got.

Fu's was one of the regular places in our lunch rotation... along with Beck's Prime, Baker's Ribs, Cyclone Anaya's, Carraba's, Escalante's, Sylvia's, and Palazzo's.

It's true. It's just way too close to what happened to us last year. There's still a lot of people who aren't even done rebuilding so watching this happen to Houston is causing a lot of fear and PTSD, even though it's likely not going to happen here. I can't lie, I've been obsessively following this storm since last Tuesday/Wednesday. So while I'm not trying to freak out on the outside, I've been sick and uneasy just WATCHING so many going through it. People who haven't experienced loss from natural disasters may find it harder to understand.
