So basically 99 and points west are ok, but points between 99 and the Resevoir have feet of standing water?
It's a little more intricate than that, but if you're west of 99, you're not at risk of flooding due to Barker reservoir.

. Several told us that adjusters just walked down the street and pretty much wrote checks on the spot
after katrina, they wrote off the entire 70043 zip code. If you lived in that zip, they just maxed out your policy.

Press conference about the officer who drowned. So freaking sad. He was trying to get to a second duty station which is procedure when you can't get to your first.
They just mentioned the Cajun Navy. "We even used these people from Louisiana .. what do you call them?" "God bless the Cajun Navy"
Police chief is breaking down.

Heartbreaking presser on KPRC right now. Discussing the officer who drowned. Damn.
He did give a shout out to the Cajun Navy and said "God bless them."

Ditto. Powerful story of one man's dedication, loving family and faith.

I'm there already.
His wife had asked him to not go in. "Sweet gentle public servant". "I've got work to do" was his response.

BeYou, that sucks, but if there is any silver lining, that damage will not be considered flood damage, and will be covered under the Homeowner's policy. It's WAYYYYYYY better to deal with them on the damages than with the federal flood adjusters. Claim should be processed much more efficiently and payment coming from your own insurer. I know that doesn't help much.
You are correct. We are blessed that no one died and that everything that was damaged can be replaced.
They will rebuild and insurance will cover most of the costs. My mom said the hardest thing about it all was that they wouldn't have a home for an undetermined amount of time. My dad has already filed claims with insurance and is trying to be as proactive as possible.
Thanks for the well wishes all.

IDK a damn thing about Sylvester (I believe that is the mayor), but I've been pretty impressed by him so far. Doesn't seem to politicize anything and has lead admirably, IMO.

If that story doesn't get you misty eyed?
God bless those brave men & women. Everyone is putting themselves on the line and you got folks shooting at Cajun Navy.

Houston: Fu Garden on San Felipe is open now with only a small crowd and full menu. Just scored some General Tsao's chicken with mixed fried rice.

This chick reporter from FOX is directing the people with the boat where to go so she can sit and she's asking if they want her in a boat or on land .. she's fixing her hair. Really?? How about you just let these people rescue people??
