It dropped down to about 5,000 feet about 30 minutes ago so it might have been visible if not for cloud cover.

I have a dumb question. So when this rain finally ends, where does all the water go? How long will there just be standing water in parts of the city? How the heck do you pump it away?

there are no pumps needed since Houston is not below sea level...just needs time to drain out.
