plus the rivers,
my flooded street is part of Cypress Creek right now, so as it rises so does the threat

At least you are keeping busy. Glad to hear the water is holding off for you.

For people worried about river flooding who aren't aware of their elevation, I find this site to be accurate enough to give you an idea.

I got a little concerned about 15 minutes ago because I went out to my garage and the wind looked like it was blowing to the south, I'm on the east/northeast side of the storm right now and expected it to be blowing the opposite direction.

Depending on where you are, Cypress Creek is supposed to crest at Wakefield Wednesday morning @ 9AM. If you haven't flooded by then, you should be safe. Roughly another 2 feet of rise to go.

The dry air the storm sucked in today is paying off. The low clouds over Lafayette tonight are hauling arse, but the air outside is cool and dry. The moon was out a little while ago. Last night, it was hot, still and muggy. The breeze tonight is rather pleasant.

But, that bastard being back out over the gulf worries me.

1. Ongoing catastrophic and life-threatening flooding will continue
across southeastern Texas. Additional rainfall accumulations of 10
to 20 inches are expected across the upper Texas coast, with
isolated storm totals as high as 50 inches. Please heed the advice
of local officials. Do not attempt to travel if you are in a safe
place, and do not drive into flooded roadways. Refer to products
from your local National Weather Service office and the NOAA Weather
Prediction Center for more information on the flooding hazard. A
summary of rainfall totals compiled by the Weather Prediction Center
can be found at: www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/discussions/nfdscc1.html

2. The flood threat has spreading farther east into Louisiana.
Additional rainfall amounts of 10 to 20 inches are expected in
southwestern Louisiana, with rainfall amounts of 5 to 15 inches
expected in south-central Louisiana. Rainfall amounts of 5 to 10
inches are expected in southeast Louisiana and coastal Mississippi
and Alabama. Please heed the advice of local officials and refer to
products from your local National Weather Service office and the
NOAA Weather Prediction Center for more information on the flooding
hazard in these areas.

Ever so slightly east of the previous track.

How far away from Methodist were you? What is the status of the hospital as far accessibility/flooding?

Didn't go any father south past Cypresswood on 249...it may be OK..I cant say for certain. St Luke's in Vintage Park was evacuated.

I think most the area of 1960 east of 249 is OK.

ETA. Not 45, 249 sorry.

I am in a similar position. When the rain was really heavy Sat night and last night it got close for me but it has been steadily draining today, and I don't live close to any river/bayou. Trying not to get too optimistic though. I am certainly much luckier than most in the city.
