They are saying the release is to help upstream Buffalo Bayou but will be affected because the release is downstream into the bayou. Which would slow down the drain

Water in the south part of the Heights was receding fairly well until this band came through. It'll be interesting to see where we are tomorrow morning
Same here. Just ventured out... water is no longer draining on the street. All stagnant. Hope the rain holds off.

Rain stopped momentarily. That came pretty close. Another couple inches and my floor would of been soaked.

Weather gurus here....how much confidence do you have in the projected path and forward speed of the storm that the NHC put out at 10:00?

So is there going to be higher than usual flooding along Buffalo Bayou heading to downtown with this controlled release?
Usual as in, what, exactly?
The Buffalo Bayou is already above record levels in many places. All else being equal, an additional 4k cfs is going to increase the level another 2-4 feet.

No, the station that evacuated was KHOU. WFAA here in Dallas is simulcasting for them. We've been watching KPRC through the Roku.

all these shelter site reports bring back memories of Andrew, family evac'd from abbeville to shreveport and stayed at a church shelter for a few days.
then came back to a demolished house

Just came across the radio that the dam release will add 10 feet of water into downtown.

Freaked me out that Andrew's anniversary was yesterday....25 years ago. Made me feel really old. That all sucked arse. Thankfully our home was ok, but our neighbor's was not.
