I must say, watching these press conferences, I've been very impressed by the governmental officials in charge. They're calm, collected, and getting relevant information out as it's needed. Refreshing to see levee boards and emergency management folks doing a competent job.

I've been following this thread since Friday. From a guy watching from California, you guys are doing gods work keeping everyone informed.

This is why TD is the shite.

I've got an old Navy buddy that lives in Houston, and I directed him to this thread because he was frustrated with local updates. He's been reading and got his shitty fishing boat out to go help folks in his area.

You guys are awesome.

Did they show expected flood maps? I am near Falcon Landing and Gaston and was hoping to not get water.

Getting hammered again the last couple of hours. This is absurd.

I thought they said 15 people. The elderly guy made contact again. Coast guard hasn't gone for him. They're asking Cajun Navy to go for him.

A few posters in here deserve the TD equivalent to a pulitzer for their work.

They're issuing mandatory evacuations for 50k people in Fort Bend County, and voluntary evacuations for another 60k. Brazos river is forecast to surpass record Memorial Day crest by 4 feet. They're not sure how things will hold up.

They just set up a dispatch channel so they can better organize boats to locations

Sounds like the Navy buddy ain't so bad himself.

I said it about 200 pages ago in this thread....as annoying and obnoxious as this site can be, it is a wonderful place for information and news and has become invaluable in times like these.

before Friday though.
Go back to page 38. That was on 23rd. It was over 50.

I saw 60 in writing on the weather channel about that day, 24th at the latest with some lady saying she didn't think it would be much over 50.

It really doesn't matter. I just pointed out that I saw it too.

Any word from Meyerland. I've been studiously thinking about things other than reality for a while.
