I read that the TX governor said off the cuff a couple days ago that people Houston should evacuate if possible, but then the local officials said do not evacuate, stay put. I see reasoning on both sides. Must have been hard to make plans based on conflicting info.

Pearland by BW8 is in bad shape
BW8 is impassable there, lots of people are trapped in the BW

I live about 15 miles north of I-10, 6 miles from the Texas line. Just got back from my beer run for GoTs tonight. Sabine River is already out of its banks (it was high already). People on the river had a 1000 year flood just last year. If we get the rain forecasted already and it moves north toward Toledo like predicted those people are going to be severely fricked again.

Addick's reservoir now full. Barker was full beforehand. Buffalo Bayou can no longer drain. Expected flooding effects very soon in Briarforest, Spring Branch West, and Hedwig/Piney Point.
Addicks and Barker are NOT full.
You can view that status Addicks USGS
and here Barker.
Addicks can hold 116k ac-ft and is at about 70k
Barker can hold 83k ac-ft and is at about 42k
Capacity from here : Corps Website.

For anyone with loved ones in the lower tx area, last year during the flood it was much easier to communicate over Facebook messenger than it was to text or call. Just FYI

Lots of bad flooding in Pearland. Also tornado warnings. I live 20 miles from there.
