Its crazy to see this even unfolding. It reminds me when we flooded last august.. fricking storm just sat down on top of the north east BR parish and dropped about 20-30 inches on us in 3days.

George Bush Park is flooding and Cinco Ranch east of 99 is in trouble
We are CR west and we sit on a plateau above George Bush Park and the Brazos so we are good where we are. But all of the katy runoff goes into GB Park and in to Buffalo Bayou which is going to cause really big problems in the city
The medical center runoff was rerouted through Braes Bayou and that cause Braeswood and West Univ to flood. This is going to be really really bad in Houston all around the city

West U in trouble you think? The streets flood there but the houses are usually high enough to be ok.

The part of West U near Braeswood has had some major trouble since they redid the medical center drainage
Braeswood and Meyerland near the Bayou have flooded twice in the last three years. This could be far worse if it sits here until wed like they are predicting. The water can't get out of the city fast enough and all of the rain on the east side only makes it worse
I think the game will be moved. I10 and BW8 are flooding and the frontage roads are really flooding. It will take days for the water to recede. Can't see how they host a football game next weekend with the hotels full of people fleeing flooded homes.

I moved to Houston three weeks ago so I don't really know the city very well in terms of neighborhoods, traditional flood areas (other than Meyerland), etc.
I'm in Rice Military, close to Allen Pkwy. Now all I can see is my apartment's courtyard and nothing else because I live in a large complex. I haven't left my place since dropping my gf off at Hobby on Friday morning, but other than a couple of hours of thunder and lightning from 7 to 9 pm tonight, it hasn't sounded like a major event at all.
Clearly that's not the case. I am merely in an extremely secure place and I am basically blind to the rest of the city, but it feels so strange to be in the midst of something that will be remembered for years and not feel threatened in any way. My lights haven't even flickered.
Compare that to Gustav where I was in terror for 4-5 hours thinking that a tree would fall right into my parents' home (fortunately, we only lost some fences). But the day after Gustav, I got in my car and drove around and surveyed the damage. After 5 hours in hell, we were done.
On the other hand, it feels like I am going to be stranded indoors until at least Tuesday because of the nature of this storm.
Death by a thousand cuts, it seems like.

I just made the trek from highway6/1960 In Cypress to 249 to the champions area and made it back to my parents surprisingly easy

Upper Kirby is pretty high
