One family member's friend stayed with his father because he is too ill to move. The house blew apart except for the bathroom they were hiding in.
When people say that there isn't a God, just tell them this story.
I guess God just politely said "pass" when it came down to saving all those other people who have died from hurricanes and other natural disasters. What a sweet gig.

Everyone I know has been accounted for, there is a list going around fb with names and addresses of folks that stayed and haven't been heard from that has a couple hundred people on it.

OK so in stormcastforums which I think is where GeauxMedic moderates, they're posting that it's drifting e/ne again and someone suggested that it may follow the front around Galveston as in under and toward Louisiana.
Anyone with any thoughts on this???
Raining pretty dang hard south of Abbeville.

Anything is possible, but that's certainly a statistical outlier at this point.

Depravity knows no bounds on this board.

I'm probably the longest lurker in history since I found this board the night Ryan Perrilloux flipped his commitment. My family and I just moved to Spring/The Falls and this thread has been extremely helpful. We had no real clue what was going to happen
But your point is a good one. While the various forums can at times really turn into a cesspool of negativity, ignorance, and bickering, the positives of this site as a whole far outweigh all of that. There are many decent people who post here and bring expertise in almost any area you can imagine. And many good-hearted people who want to help in times like these. And I'm always fascinated by the fact that there are posters from all over the world who somehow find their way to this site. And it doesn't matter what subject you want info for, there will be someone who has knowledge about it.
While I do spend a lot of time on this site killing time when I should be doing something more productive, this site has also become my "go-to" when I need current info on a wide array of topics, be it sports, weather, or whatever...and I think a lot of other users would say the same. There is lots of good done here and I appreciate it.

We've evacuated several times and always were fortunate to come home to no real issues. I always took the special baby blankets, every photo in the house (even autographed LSU memorabilia) and all of my husbands guitars. Other things could be replaced although it would be a pain in the arse. Stay strong ... and I'd seriously start with filing a claim now. Start the process rolling.

Spouse and kids taking real rough and now we find out about her parents place. We're all safe and we'll all be good in time. We have some great friends down there and our Texas spirit will pull us through this and make us stronger than we were. No pity party here, we're going to work starting tomorrow. Thanks for all the kind words, prayers, and encouragement, it's been very therapeutic to unload on yall at times.
