I didn't think 12 hours was that unusual for one to maintain strength especially if it passes over flat land or land with a lot of water ways.
This one moving so slow also helped it maintain strength.

everyone had been saying the area had also gotten a lot of rain this summer... so the Brown Ocean Effect could have been in play as well

The NHC track is insane, just a circle, the flooding is going to be insane. 12 hours after landfall and still a CAT 1.

The Guadalupe and Comal rivers will be incredible. I remember well the flood of 1998 when my ex-wife's parents lost their entire house on the banks of the Comal and I don't think that even was near what this will be re: rainfall both in the area and north of New Braunfels over the next several days.

That whole area of 59 @ San Jac was a cluster Tax day 2016. Can't imagine how bad it could potentially be with this system.

I have contacts that have confirmed numerous casualties so far in Rockport, putting the call out for airboats for recovery efforts. Numbers will probably go into triple digits. We are about to head that direction with equipment and man power and try to reach Rockport from the west.

Yea that was a crazy flood, damn near covered up 59.
