On that model track guidance graphic, I don't really like any of those scenarios, but the green one that shows the storm going west once inland, then south, then east back into the Gulf down around Brownsville, then making a bee-line for Louisiana can especially GTFO...

That has to be the most broad tornado watch I've ever seen

This makes me wonder what differentiates price gauging vs a normal price increase due to the storm?
There's no such thing as price gouging, Im in the business, I raised my prices alot, and Im sold out everywhere and im not getting a shipment for a few days so that extra people paid will offset my having to close for multiple days due to the fact I can't get shipments. People crying foul are simply have no business sense whatsoever. On a normal basis we get a new batch everytime our tanks hit 1000 gallons left, this time we got notice that no shipments will be coming for a few days.

If the 53" maximum rains were to verify, Harvey would be the biggest rain producer from a tropical cyclone in US history.

There are always one or two outliers in these models that can make you LOL. Amazes me every time.

So we're just supposed to lose money if we have to close for a week just so you guys can get cheap gas? Ill tell you what, take a few million dollars of your own money and go buy a store and then give away free gas, until then, business is business and its not price gouging when none us know when our next shipment is coming. It could literally be 7-10 days if not more.

20,000 stuck at sea in cruise ships as Galveston hunkers down for Hurricane Harvey
The thought of being stuck on a cruise ship for an extended period of time longer than what it was prepared for makes me want to vomit...

Don't you have insurance for this type of thing? Lost income due to a natural disaster?

They're not really that stuck out there. If they were running out of supplies I'm sure they would just go on over to Mobile or something and load up.

If you had an extra few million, why the frick did you buy a gas station?
You're right though, supply and demand.

I guess it's really a case-by-case basis/question of whether or not your area is subject to flooding, but I think in some cases when you're likely to be exposed to both severe winds and flooding and have to make a decision, it would be tough.
I trust my homeowners insurance a lot more than my flood insurance. Lots of folks don't even have flood, and HO's isn't covering a damn thing if flooding caused the damage.
