There was/is a lot of false info being floated on social media. There was one yesterday from someone claiming to be at some important meeting. He said the media and government is lying as they dont want to cause a panic and they know this will hit the heart of downtown and cost thousands of lives.

That looks awful for the coast, but is that accurate for Harris? It was in the high 20's earlier. Now it's 5-7 inches.

he spreads between areas not far from each other on here is insane. 56 inches in Victoria and 3 inches in what looks like Columbus?

Yeah, I've taken umbrage with the precip runs on here many times...

It's probably short term though, since I suspect it's just a function of the storm ramping up.

I mean, when it was obvious what Katrina was going to be, the NWS released a warning that essentially said GTFO or die. Why wouldn't they do the same for Houston?

They need to stay their asses put and let people from Galveston county and barrier islands get out.

More people died in a bus fire trapped on the highway in traffic during Rita than from anything else.

Looking at Houston Interstate traffic cams at the moment, it looks like pretty clear sailing throughout the area. If I'm there right now, I can think of a lot of stupider things I could do than getting my family in a car and heading north for the weekend to see how this thing plays out.

sure looks like Harvey on the Brownsville radar has slowed down.

Not sure if that is occurring yet. I know it is primitive, but over the last 30 minutes, the center of the eye on radar has moved 6.5 miles. NHC says it is moving 10 mph to the NW as of the 9AM update. Neither suggest it has slowed down yet.

The entire NW part of Harris county is well enough inland that no one's life is in danger from wind unless it's Cat 5

Unless a tree falls on them or there is a tornado. Heck, there is always a danger. Baton Rouge even had a few roofs blown off from Gustav, and that was minimal hurricane conditions.

Yeah man not sure about that unless they predict that we will get upwards of 10-15 inches Tuesday.

Need to remember it is only 84 hours and rainfall totals are tough to pin down. I'm only posting them for general reference. I wouldn't suggest being too comfortable if you're less than 50 miles from 21 inch rain totals.

Next update at 10am correct?

Damn women at work are just wondering if it will get bad enough in Baton Rouge to miss work. They don't realize people will die from this storm.
