Anyone remotely concerned that a metro area of 9 million people haven't evacuated for what seems like a life threatening event?

No one in Houston is dying from a Cat 1 or less unless they go driving in the flood. That's not worth evacuating over for most people. Now if you have an infant and want to have AC I get it, but this isn't going to be much of a wind event in Houston. Fences will blown down, gas station canopies will get damaged, but the wind isn't killing likely anyone there.

When is Harvey suppose to slow down? Looks like full speed ahead on the radar.

You sure it's only going to be a cat one? Last EURO shows it @969mb which is NOT a cat 1.

25 inches in 3 days on the QPF is basically unheard of.

For reference, the NWS had rainfall totals of 8.5 inches over 72 hours in the August 2016 floods in LA.

Here in Clear Lake we're getting some steady rain. On the radar looks like the outer band is starting to come in. (I'm thinking that's what it is)

Here it comes, radar loop:

It is discouraging that the radar loop is getting better and better organized as it goes.

Looks like the first train is pulling in to Houston and setting up shop.

He did the same thing a few frames before.

Bad sign imo just proves he's a badass.

It appears that the models started backing down on this thing moving into southwest Louisiana next week. Is that the case?

It's not making landfall anywhere near Houston.

Most of Houston on lockdown. HISD and ISDs closer to the coast already cancelled classes for Monday. About half the people in my building told to work from home today and Monday.

Props to local grocery stores this time - plenty of gas, water and propane yesterday.

Reed Timmer is sort of my go-to for on the ground video.

It looks like he is in Port Lavaca right now. I wonder where he is going to set up to ride this thing out.

TBH it looks like models are moving east again.

I could very well be wrong but last I saw it was a TS at that point, not even a Cat 1. I was there for Ike and from a life safety perspective it was no big deal at all. Sucked to have to do repairs, damn sure. But at no point was I in any fear for my safety. Just don't go outside or go driving in the flood. Hunker down. Would I stay if I was on the coast? Hell no! But inside the loop? I wouldn't leave unless it was Cat 3.

And Rob is the reason we bought a generator for Rita ... He was good in his forecasting to not scare us BUT he sure was the one who we trusted. He called it several days out. (Yes, I realize he could have been wrong but we trust him over many others)
Robs legit. I like him because he will break down every model and gives you the possibilities of each.

Define landfall. Because this hurricane is going to skim up the coast line. Which might be even worse.

You're talking about a 958mb storm and evacuations. Houston will not experience that pressure, nor a Category 4 wind speed. No reason to evacuate millions over something like this.
