Got a buddy that works in Corpus, he's getting out, but he sent a message to our group chat and posted a pic of his map on his phone. I don't know if it was because he zoomed out so much, but it looked like Hwy 77 from Corpus wasn't even on the map. Have they shut it down?

Essentially, it looked like the only way to get out was going northbound on I37 to San Antone, not east to Houston.

This is what he sent.

Ignore those.

The NHC is your best bet. They seem to be backing the Euro, which has been consistent with a NE turn after hitting Texas.

Latest recon found 75kt surface winds, which supports the most recent advisory. The dropsonde also recorded average wind speeds in the last 150m of 87kt, or 100mph. Unfortunately, those winds have a tendency to work their way down to the surface over time.

Last recon drop has it at 973 mb and the eyewall is now closed.

Could be the start of his run to major hurricane status.

There's a stark contrast of flooding due to historic rain and flooding due to ineptitude.

With context to the conversation I've been a part of, you are bringing up non relevant tangents

I hate to be the guy that says this, because it seems played out, but reading through this it honestly feels like people want this to hit SE La. if you post saying this will be major for BR/Nola, it is upvoted

If you post saying it looks like SE la will be okay, you get downvotes

I guess it is a good study on the human psych. People and humans feed on the energy doom brings into their own arena.

My biggest personal concern with this is the farmers crops in northeast LA. If we get 4-6" up here in a short period of time, it will be bad.

I know it's selfish of me to not consider those in the real line of fire but agriculture is a big part of my business and my wife's family's livelihood

Our rice harvest was done yesterday and today they were trying to help someone get their crop in until rain came early afternoon. Rice is a little green but better that than under water.

Good luck.

Having been through countless storms that were supposed to level Louisiana and petered out, I find people just want something that lives up to the hype enough and gets them out of work/school a few days. Just my opinion

Well Stout I was 18 when the eye of Hurricane Andrew crossed right over my house. So I guess since 1992, I've been through a few.
