The one potential issue is a residual storm surge that inhibits the flow of primary outfalls to the south. Slow that down and you have slower than typical system drainage.
Agree. Particularly, if after bouncing in for a tease, the system moves east along the coast.
If Houston is (1) funneling massive volumes over a large area from the first run (2) consistently taking on more rain with saturated ground (3) gulf isn't accepting it in the south due to surge from new storm path - hmm...

I know that for us rice that is stored in the bins and is insured is way better for us than rice in the field that is insured but the insurance doesn't pay squat.

Pretty much.
Still too many potential paths, but the percentages help (though I wish #3 was the most likely).

My checks on insurance are better than harvest on our wheat in Ks most years.
My local agriculture concerns lie mostly in beef cattle. I was in S West La after Rita and saw what that storm surge did. Dead cattle everywhere. Most where left that didn't drown were standing in knee deep water and eventually suffocated due to mosquitos.

Figured you were more near Goldman, Cross Keys or Delta bridge. Lot of late beans in gumbo mud will sour with more rain.

I just accept that there is nothing I can do about weather so I embrace whatever comes my way. Then again I wanted to be a storm chaser as a kid so there's that.
