Problem is those folks to the west of Houston. Probably a few of them that won't be able to make it. I think it's kind of foul to not reschedule the concert.

Completely agree and from the reaction on twitter most people are pretty upset with the decision to go ahead. Should be plenty of empty seats.

Big blowup around the center but it's not connected all around yet. Still organizing there, but that's about the deepest convective punch I've seen all day.

how is it in 2017 there are still people on tv doing the weather that are not actual meterologists?

Better question is how hard is it to just repeat exactly what the NHC says?

you're not overreacting, try going multiple days without AC in houston's humid weather, its awful. Then try to do it with nothing to do all day long: no tv,no internet, no nothing. It's just a very tedious thing to go through, done it twice, and I've decided im a princess and i need my electricity.

It depends on how old you are.

I was in my 20s and lived in Houston during Ike and I had the time of my life. With no electricity there's nothing else to do but party and have sex.

I'm married with a little kid now, so it would absolutely suck if it happened to me today.

If that can wrap around and fill in the void in the NE quadrant it could really bomb out tonight/tomorrow.

You could Maybe sell the reservation to evacuees. Or maybe the hotel could sell the room to someone else at a lot higher rate.

Seems a little early and a little weak for that. My guess is he hit that Eddy and popped convection off. It'll eventually wrap around and I suspect start another strengthening cycle.
