5mb if it comes in at 971.

Was there an increase in the pressure?

You guys be careful with booking hotel reservations online. I booked a room for my mother last year during the flood and showed and they said the Federal people had taken the rooms. Call the hotel you plan on going to.

Dropped a little. Recon is in there, and I've seen a report of 971. Should see a few more passes soon.

What does that mean? Weaken it?

no pressure dropping indicates the storm is getting stronger. Some times it takes the winds a while to catch up to the pressure drop.

When should I label this the storm of the century?

Wow. Not many places can handle that in 2 days without flooding.

I just saw lines 4 deep at every gas pump.

I think the ocean is the only place that can handle that.

Dropsonde came back at 974 w/ 9kt surface wind, so perhaps as low as 973 mb. The 971 was extrapolated.

This looks bad, but I'm not ready to go anywhere near that far at this point. Katrina killed 1,200 people. God willing, we won't see anything close to that with this storm. No doubt it will be a rough week for most of southeast Texas, though.
