There were not a ton of black criminal defense lawyers around the south at that time.
Also, I don’t “savior” is a bit much since Tom dies (Spoilers)
It would be nice if anyone could look at this book as provided an example to white children to do the right thing and put morals of popular opinion.

There’s something seriously wrong with leftists brains

So a bunch of white people in Edinburgh play the role of “white savior” by canceling a book because of a “white savior” narrative?
The whole theme of the book is to not capitulate to popular opinion and stand up for what is right.
And that completely goes against the whole leftist narrative now. Anyone who stands against them gets steam rolled. They prefer stories of compliance.

I guess "Little Black Sambo" would be a no go.

I came from a pretty racist background. My family was deeply affected by busing in Baton Rouge in the early 80's and it took its toll on my parent's attitude towards blacks. The atmosphere at school wasn't any better and I am ashamed to say that I grew to have the same racist feelings that those around me had.
But I grew up and moved away and my eyes were opened to my bias and the wrongness of judging others solely by the color of their skin.
To Kill A Mockingbird was one of the movies that helped me to change my way of thinking. I always look to it, and Atticus Finch, as pivotal parts of my growth in this.
What a damn shame that cancel culture has come for this now. We are truly living in clown world times.
And yes, I still struggle with racist thoughts sometimes. But it's usually due to stupid shite like this. Doesn't make it right, but for me, this kind of stuff is definitely not helping.

Classic response from leftists when they know their people are doing something absolutely retarded.

Never read the book. Mockingbirds are evil and we should be allowed to hunt them.
Honestly anyone over the age of 20 who hasn’t read this book I tend to judge fairly harshly.

Not surprising you see nothing wrong with removing a book.

Censorship gradually builds and ultimately affects us all and our ability to have a conversation.

Anyone who gives them an inch these days is a fricking moron. We’ve reached the point where job interviews are starting off with “Hi my name is Rachel, and I go by she/her pronouns. What pronouns do you go by?” And it’s obvious to anyone that has lived in this dimension ever that I’m clearly a male. We’ve lost our fricking minds and can no longer put up with Leftist bullying.

Today’s lesson kids is…..
“Why White People Cannot Win, no matter what they do or don’t do”
See below
How do you find a common ground with nut balls who deface a statue of an abolitionist and founder of a school for black people?
Answer…. YOU DON’T. You put lots of distance between yourself and IT. The are far too fundamentally screwed for life in the head to put any hope in them absorbing any rational thinking.

"A Time to Kill" (albeit not exactly a classic work of literature/film) is next--white attorney defends, and gets off, a black man who killed white scum who brutally assaulted his daughter. This white male is a far worse savior than Atticus Finch, as he had the gall to get a Not Guilty verdict.

I read half and put it down to read a better book.
There are 100s of books better and almost all the "classics" are better reading.

Again, I judge people harshly who have never read this book. There are like 30 books that you should have read by the time you are 20, and that’s one of them.

Always the same response when guys like you have nothing else to say to logically defend this nonsense.

Why is that one of them? Just because you or an English teacher with state designed curriculum said so? All of Orwell is better, every Steinbeck novel kept me captivated. Gatsby, catch-22, Kerouac, Hemingway all better.
I got bored of the classics by 16 and started learning higher maths and economics. Was trading options in paper accounts until I could open an account with real money at 18.
I like visual arts better preferably abstract and grandiose.

My parents actually made me read it.

Yeah, all those books would go under 30 books you should read before 20.
