It's absolutely not. My wife's opinion certainly matters and she handles a lot in our lives. She's not some submissive pushover either.

She dropped a "skinny jean wearing pussies" in her 45 second rant too

My wife believe more in the "happy spouse, happy house" adage. She encourages me to do things that make me happy. She knows i like fishing and set it up so we could find and afford the camp where i can fish from my porch. She loves living in the boonies, away from people.
She also makes my coffee and brings it to me, many times a day. She was raised on old fashion values and is quite happy that way, as am i. We are content growing old together, each allowed to be ourselves and are happy together.

Found the first buffoon in the thread.
I think most men by and large are with the op and live as such. It's just the media that tries to push it as otherwise. I'd rather argue with my wife until 5 in the morning than just say she's right, if she's actually wrong. However, if I'm wrong and she is correct, I have zero problems admitting it as soon as I realize it. fricking learn to communicate and move on with your life. It's much better than being in the mindset of happy wife, happy life.

I used to hate that phrase too, when I was single.

Now married, I get it. It doesn't mean I kowtow to her every whim. It means, at times, doing things you don't really feel like doing because you know it'll make her happy, and making her happy makes you happy. It's part of being married. My wife does stuff all of the time that she doesn't feel like because she knows it'll make me happier or our life easier. She does things to allow me to have the solo time I love. It's just how a healthy relationship works.

I enjoy watching Everybody Loves Raymond, occasionally.
How can you "enjoy" that show when the main character is a huge vagina and capitulates to his wife and mom in every episode?

I agree. it’s one of the main shows that I’m talking about. It can be funny sometimes but Raymond is pussy whipped for sure.

Reading No More Mr Nice Guy and deciding to be a more traditionally masculine leader in my household has completely changed my life. I spent years (9 in fact) trying to do everything in the best interest of my wife. Thinking that if I was a nice guy then my wife would be happy and attracted to me.

It led to me seeing my own opportunities get ruined (reference my submission history in 2016 when I quit a prestigious PhD program because I was worried my wife wasn’t happy) and my own sexual health diminished.

I started lifting weights, taking ownership over my household, worrying less about others, gaining self-confidence, and pursuing my own ambitions and voila, happy wife AND happy life.

I’m not going to try and wax philosophical to explain it. All I know is that when I started acting like a more traditional “alpha*”male, my wife got genuinely turned on by me and our relationship is better than ever.

*Sorry for the douchebag term, but I’m not sure how to else you describe it. Maybe alpha is used by so many because “just being a normal guy” has turned into being a pushover who feels like he has to worship the ground his wife/girlfriend/all girls walk on.

How about if everyone just acts like a kind, loving, compassionate human being and focuses on working as a partner and not buying all kinds of meaningless crap or telling each other what to do?

So it's not happy wife, happy life. It's happy self which leads to happy wife and happy life....which is entirely true. When you yourself are happy, others around you will be happier.

I won’t be an a-hole and say I don’t see what you’re driving at/saying... women want a strong, opinionated, etc. man, but they also want to win every fricking argument.

Im sure it’s where the “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” adage started.

Every woman says, “I’m just looking for a sweet, caring, kind man...” but is attracted to the dangerous “bad boy type” and all this proves to everyone listening is:

Bitches be cray

(And the media perpetuates it and makes it “ok”)

I’d say just STFU and give in to societal pressures and win the battles you choose to fight and if she’s smart, she’ll not take advantage of that and respect you at the end of the day.

If she doesn’t, curb the bitch.

There is literally zero reason for men to get married in today's culture, just sets them up for financial ruin and unhappiness.

I used to think this but not anymore.

I think there are qualities in the "bad boy" types that attracts them, and that's someone that's not going to let her run over him, and someone who isn't going to supplicate just to be with her, basically how men should be acting anyway.

Those qualities make her feel safe. You don't have to be a "bad boy" to have these qualities.
