In the name of Christian unity on Reformation Day, I think we should all agree that Martin Luther was right about the perpetual virginity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist.

Luther added the word "alone" when it wasn't there and he wanted to get rid of the Book of James and the Book of Revelation.

He was his own Pope.

We’d be better off if that wasn’t canon to be honest.

What other books would you like to remove from the Bible? Feel free. Luther and the other Reformers did it.

Also, the Marburg Colloquy proves that Luther's Theology was challenged and disputed almost immediately by other Reformers, such as Zwingli.

And is there one unified and single denomination of Lutheranism today? If not, how can that be so, when Luther himself nailed down the proper Theology for us all?

I’m not interested in Catholic vs Protestant arguments, but good luck finding someone who wants to engage.

Because it’s a piece of apocalyptic literature rooted very much in a specific time and place (and it’s not even unique in that regard), but a lot of people view it as prophetic and run off on tangents. It’s tiresome.

lol.

Imagining following someone who felt that the Church God established wasn’t quite good enough so they needed to establish a better one.

Imagine shouting from the roof tops that the Bible is all you need, and if it’s not in the bible it’s not to be trusted as from God, but can’t point to the verse in the Bible that states the Bible is all you need.

lol

Imagine being so brainwashed that you are perfectly comfortable calling others who believe in Christs sacrifice for our salvation, satin worshipers and demons.

I’m sure we could go in for a long while but I’ll stop there.

May the peace of Christ be with you all, and may all our hearts be turned from stone to flesh in the love of the God; the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.

Hasn’t the Catholic Church done this quite a bit?

Good words. Christ prayed for unity of all the saints. And when I say saints, I mean all Christians.

Imagine needing any book to fully believe in the power of The Almighty, The Creator, The One Who gave believers His Holy Spirit.

Asking my family in the kingdom,

Would you believe if there was never a book of testimonies? Do you all need a sign? You still might not believe. More blessed are those who have not seen and yet, believe. Gird yourselves, for the sake of the Church, that is Christ!

This thread will be closed soon, but imagine believing in a God that came down to become man and preached for years, then basing 90% your theology on another man’s words who never met him.

Your point about the crazy tangents is exactly why the Catholic Church firmly keeps it in the canon, to protect it from wild interpretations like Rapture theology or predicting the end of the world. These interpretations come from people who ignore the historical context and genre of the book. But that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be Scripture because when you look closely at Revelation it is a blueprint for Catholic Mass.
John the Apostle sees a vision of Heaven with an altar, priests in robes, candles, incense, and everyone singing ‘Holy, Holy, Holy’ to the ‘Lamb of God.’ Then the climax of the book is the ‘Supper of the Lamb.’
