today recreational cannabis sale and possession/consumption is legal in the state of Illinois. The first legal sale of cannabis at a recreational dispensary was made at 6:07am in Chicago
39 states to go.

All drugs should be legal and the only laws enforced regarding it should be based on public intoxication and safe driving. I'm a libertarian. Can you tell?

I can only imagine how crowded the one in Collinsville is.
About 20mins from St.Louis, so ALL the White suburbanite pot heads going to be there as soon as it opened, if not camping out.
And i wouldn't worry about no one ganking ya, the State police(Illy) have a station about 30 feet from it.
Guy who bought the place, expanded it, and waited for this day is going to make mad bank for a good while. missourians and Illinoians gonna get good and high.

Louisiana and Arkansas will be the last states to legalize cannabis. Florida shouldn't be too far off, though. We'd be able to get high during our beach vacations (legally).
I think Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama will be the last states to legalize. And it kind of makes sense when you compare how little economically we have going on down here.

I’m looking at a live feed of the line at sunnyside dispensary in Chicago and it is 100% Caucasian
Let me know when that line dies down.

I assume there are dispensaries opening up all over Chicago but does anyone know where one is in Southern Illinois ? Surely one will open up across the river from Sikeston ? Asking for a friend

Tell me about all those times Obama legalized weed at the federal level

is bourbon acceptable in the industrial workplace?
No and I think the mentality I posted is insane, yet we have had these discussions ad nauseum with upper level safety people in all types of industry, and I don’t see a scenario in my lifetime where I could smoke unless I left my field.

Anna and Harrisburg both offer recreational in southern Illinois I believe.

Your employer might never let you smoke but the government should

I actually don't agree with the federal government being able to make national drug laws. This is precisely the kind of thing that should be left up to the states.

leafly or weedmaps is your friend.
and yes, Obama had a golden opportunity to make meaningful change in our outdated and destructive drug policy and did nothing. The current POTUS would, if he wanted, practically ensure his re election by co-opting a major Dem policy position and ending federal cannabis prohibition by either executive order or by using one of his 300 daily tweets to simply say he would sign a bill if it made it to his desk

There's an Arkansas fan, momentoftruth87 maybe, who is in southern Illinois and has medical. He'd be the one who could fill you in on dispensaries in the area. Or at least I'm 95% sure that's where he was. I do indulge myself, so I could be slightly off here.

I agree totally. It amazed me how easily The feds just passed that 21 year age for cigarette law. Ridiculous.

They had a local news stand-up over there this morning and there were 1000 people in line over in Collinsville at 7 AM. The dispensery had a live band playing and everything.
