Hands in pockets - a sign of weakness?

A new-ish guy I work with constantly comes up to my desk to ask me questions about random things. I don't mind him or his questions, as I'd rather have someone ask than sit in silence and not learn anything. However, the dude always sheepishly walks up with his hands in his pockets and keeps them there during the entire duration of his conversation with me. I don't know why, but it drives me insane.
When I was a kid, my dad would tell me to take my hands out of my pockets in any situation. I guess maybe that has been ingrained a little too hard? Or is this a common belief?

It takes all types. Guy is probably just a nervous individual or feels like he is a burden asking questions. Sometimes people can be considerate to a fault.
The way I look at it, at least he's taking initiative to ask questions and has the confidence to do that.

I tend to get very animated with my hands when I'm talking so I either fold my arms or put my hands in my pockets.
If I fold my arms people think I'm an a-hole. If I put my hands in my pockets people think I'm a bitch.
