No confidence issues here. But I do have injured rotator cuffs, and when my arms hang on their own weight it hurts after a bit. Putting my hands in my pocket, or behind my head, across car seats takes the weight off and holds off the pain. Getting old sucks.

It means he finds you as no threat to him. Probably doesn't feel threatened by anyone else.

I'm not sure why, but in the USMC we'd get knocked the hell out for having hands in our pockets.

What's his background. I spent most of my career at a place where we were not supposed to touch things in the production environment. So I got in the habit of walking with my hands in pockets in these areas, which has carried over to other things especially at work.

He's tired of you staring at his crotch so he's trying to hide his bulge.

Hands in pockets - a sign of weakness? by VolsOut4Harambe
I have been pondering this exact thought. I work with a bunch of millennial hipster types. Is it a thing now to walk around with your hands in your pockets? It looks like they are trying way too hard to be cool.

Me too, was taught the same thing.

It is a sign of weakness according to Joe Navaro, body language expert. His books and lectures are fascinating. After awhile, you really can see through people just by the way they react, or carry themselves.

If his hands are in his pockets, then he's not touching, breaking, or otherwise screwing things up. Leave him alone.

I prefer to cross my arms and glare in disapproval at my lessers

My dad did this as well. I have no confidence, and I'm always anxious, but I sure as shite don't put my hands in my pockets.
