It is just a random hit. I have about 1 out of every 10 get delayed.

It's pretty obvious that libs are shady degenerates, but this is probably due to a back log.

back log? You know it is named "instant background check" for a reason there are a bunch of reasons a hold would get issued. But it isn't cause the people are busy and they say "hold that one"

Background checks are inherently assaults against our rights and downright unconstitutional.

ETA: and I’m not saying I agree with your conspiracy...yet. But one day that will be the case in this nation.

Many times those only last about 10 minutes.

Yep, I can own guns but I can't buy them.

That kind of thing is hard to sort out. You should probably talk to an attorney, though. Might be hard to convince a cop of the "can own" claim right on the spot.

Sometimes they have the best price. I bought my last one at Cabelas because it was on sale and $70 cheaper than I could find anywhere else.

Don't buy guns from Bass Pro. Drive down the street to Bayougunslingers.

Buy them used from individuals. No record you own it.

When the NICS isn't slammed, it pretty much is instant. Part of why Democrats and Fudds want universal background checks is because they know the NICS would become a defacto barrier to gun purchases.

It's usually no longer than a few minutes in my experience unless you got flagged for review (I never have)

That's one good thing about a concealed handgun permit. It is your background check as long as it's valid.

Step 1: Produce card
Step 1b: FFL checks CHP license number with state to see if valid
Step 2: Leave with gun

ETA: At least in Louisiana. We have no background check requirements, so there's just the federal requirement and the feds have confirmed that a valid Louisiana CHP meets their requirements and serves as your background check. I think it's all unconstitutional, myself, but I also don't want to go to PMITA prison.

The last rifle I bought took longer to check out online than it did to transfer it to my possession once it arrived at my FFL.
