The only times I've heard Hammond referred to as part of the Northshore is by the weather folks on television.

According to that bottom picture, ponchatoula is just as much "northshore" as Slidell and LaCombe.

My grandfather used to tell me stories about when he was a boy in the late 1890's going to Covington and Madisonville to watch the schooners come from across the lake to load and unload.

Ok, like again. You see all of that green between I-55 and St. Tammany that is above lake Pontchartrain? That my friend is Tangipahoa parish and the city of Ponchatoula.
So, as I said before by that train of thought, if Slidell is northshore, so is ponchatoula.

I always thought the "Northshore" was Mandeville-Covington--Madisonville. Not saying that's right but I think a lot of people feel the same. I very well could be wrong though

I'm lost, you just confirmed that I'm right. Ponchatoula is below hammond and stretches almost to the parish line of St. Tammany, which is above lake Pontchartrain. How am I wrong?

So what you're tying to argue is that this little piece of swamp land that has no roads or civilization that barely touches Lake Pontchartrain happens to be Ponchatoula is equal to the amount of land and civilization as Slidell therefor Ponchatoula should be considered part of "The Northshore?

No, but by your theory covington, Bush..etc are considered northshore because they touch an area that is on the "shore" of Lake Pontchartrain. Well, technically, so does ponchatoula.
Also, I didn't realize certain population played a part in what an area is called. I guess I learn something new everyday!
My question to you is this, let's say one day St. Tammany took over Tangipahoa parish, would ponchatoula and hammond then be considered northshore?

To me anything along I-12 and between 55 and 59 is the northshore.
