Sad story all around. RIP to the deceased. Terrible situation for the young woman involved as well.

I’m not saying that I wish that the woman would’ve died, but isn’t it strange how it always seems to work out like this with who lives and who dies?

Physics. It's better to be going faster than the person you're hitting.

Probably not a bad idea. I'm glad cell-phones didn't exist when I was cruising around on a motorcycle. That said, intersections have always been the most dangerous place to be on a bike. I'd rather ride on the interstate than on some busy city street.

Did she or did she not run a red light? Or was she just sitting behind the steering wheel as the car drove itself?

This is why I would never drive a motorcycle on a public road. Dumbass people not paying attention. At least in my truck I have some protection (other than a helmet).

A lot of red light running could be prevented but no one wants red light cameras.

My policy for the last two-plus decades.

I’m still alive.

I'm not going to fully judge her as I've done the same thing. I wasn't drunk or looking at any cell phone. Just tired and dazed out and ran a light not realizing a light was there until I was right under it. Hit a guy in a F350 in his bed. Thankful I hit the bed and not driver door and thankful it was a big truck and I didn't just send it flying. I managed to barely slam brakes at last second. That probably was difference in me hitting driver door and prob seriously injure him or the bed. Could've been bad.

How does a camera stop someone plowing through a red light?

It’s mostly snapping people that don’t fully stop behind the line when turning rt.

Cameras are good for hit and run incidents though. So I’ll give you that. But they don’t actually stop people not paying attention.

Cameras will make people think twice about running red lights. It won’t stop a drunk but it would stop people from hitting the gas instead of stopping. For you calling me an idiot, come back to me if you get to experience your daughter getting injured by someone running a red light.

She can burn in hell after she straight killed someone because she could give two shits about following the law.

I hope she rots in prison for the rest of her life.

Red light cameras exist in a ton of places. They do nothing but generate a bunch of useless tickets from out of state companies that no one pays

While I agree that red light cameras and their tickets are a joke, if this girl's Waze would have said "RED LIGHT CAMERA AHEAD" like my Waze does, this dude might be at his house right now with his family. Sad that some people may need an audio cue to be alerted that they are about to drive through an intersection but here we are, 2024...

Only several weeks ago a young lady hit a car on I-12 by Albany. Killing that lady from Baton Rouge. Seemed she was t paying attention to the wreck in front of her and plowed into them. She got charged I believe. Never heard if texting but probably so
