Anyone else think that the rest of the world is sitting back and pointing and laughing at us for flipping our shite over such trivial things?
No because this is exactly what happens when life is too good. You worry about Bs things. Other parts of the world are just trying to make it through the day

Yep, we have no real problems in this country. Human nature to is manufacture them when they are absent.

With zero public vote. I'd say there's also a reason it's never gone on any public ballot.
Clinton won Orleans Parish with more than 80% of the vote. How do you think that ballot would have gone for statue removal?

I think these idiots are great. Proving Trumps point just after people said he was nuts for suggesting that after Lee is removed what is to keep people from coming after Washington and Jefferson.

This thread is a perfect example of why you should never talk to a hack organization like TMZ. The guy was making an articulate and reasoned statement about how things are always open to discussion and he really didn't take a position either way. I can't fault him for his reasoning. They spin it with a fake headline and the pundits on both sides run amok.

Human nature? People on this board still despise Lincoln.

WIth all the other shite that money needs to be spent on, and from many of the black people here I've talked to, not as big of a slam dunk as you think.

Alamo should come down too. Offensive to Mexicans.
arguing about taking down any monument that is NOT pro-USA is futile, glib, and childish... stick to the point...
public memorials to a fallen, traitorious, rebel confederation of states that opted to disavow the US serves absolutely no purpose... it doesn't do anything to unite us a as nation, and instead, it for some, does the opposite, and if you are pro-AMERICA, then you should be more about uniting the citizens and cultural factions of TODAY rather than worrying about statues of people from a failed experiment of YESTERDAY

no reason to honor in memorial those that CHOSE to dishonor the US....
So you think anyone that fought against the US should not be memorialized?

I know, right. This process of removing them has been a tremendous kumbaya exercise for the nation.

Let's take our Vietnam war memorials down!

bruh, across ALL racial lines, we have poverty, starving children, inequality, etc... saying we have no "real" problems in this country is just either terribly misinformed, terribly naive, or worse.... terribly uncaring to what we actually face as a country.....
our fight shouldn't be over statues and monuments, but rather over how can we all progress, together, as a society towards a common goal... how can we reclaim civility and respect for opinions from those outside of ourselves? how can we see the person next to us, regardless of what they look like on the outside or what part of town they come from, for more than what's on the surface?
please know, i'm not saying this just to WHITE america... this is a WHOLE america problem, and yes, there's racism AGAINST whites too... to argue there isn't is intellectually dishonest, imo... but it's time we stop being so foolish and start getting on with getting on....

Is there a statue of George Washington Carver somewhere? I'm allergic to peanuts.
Also, notice his namesake and consider his origins.

Tear down the Alamo. It is offensive. Mexicans are Americans too. They were murdered and their land was taken from them by racist white people. The names of Davy Crockett, Jim Bowie, and San Houston should be removed from all streets and schools too. Tear down all of their statues. Very offensive to so many Americans. Tear them down.

So you think anyone that fought against the US should not be memorialized?
yes... we should memorialize pro-US interests only.... we should honor only those that were pro-US in their approach... hard to argue that Lee and Jeff Davis, or anyone else that sought to defeat her...
that doesn't mean that we should ignore or rewrite history, and in fact, history is a very important topic... history allows us to know where we've been and helps serve as a guide to where we could be going... but history should have it's place, especially in respect to those who we have opposed...
this isn't about slavery, or at least it shouldn't be... and this is where i think groups like antifa and blm are misinformed and retarded.... slavery WAS the most glaring issue in respect to dividing the country at the time of the Civil War, but these monuments are not and should not come down due to slavery.... they should come down because they honor traitors to the US, which, imo, should not happen...

They aren't traitors. They legally withdrew from the union.
And after the war, Lee did more than anyone to help the union heal.

and therefore, imo, they shouldn't be honored in the US, as they were not for the US.... period.. it's pretty simple...

good for him.... that doesn't, imo, take any of the sting out of the fact that he was the leader of the army of the CSA...

semantics, but okay... we can agree they were opponents of the USA, though... and again, for that, they shouldn't be honored with statues/memorials in the US....

nor does defending them.... it cuts both ways....
simply put, they shouldn't have been there in the first place, but that was a mistake we made as country a long time ago.... but that doesn't mean we are "stuck" and have to perpetuate that mistake... we CAN and SHOULD do something about it, though it should be addressed, at this point, at a local level, not by the federal government overreach

Funny that he failed to mention that Alexander Hamilton was involved with the purchase, selling and transfer of slaves.
