Read the last sentence. I wasn't sure. But of course you're so eager to jump on my nuts.
Go read your posts in this thread. You're clearly trying to bring the Confederate monuments into this thread.

you only say it's not healthy because you don't agree.
Giving a blanket statement of all discussion is "never bad" and all debate is "healthy" is ignorant.
Plain and simple.

I don't see the problem either, but if the country who prevailed wants them down, that's pretty much what happens. Like I said, I get why the old CSA erected the statues, but if the USA wants then gone, they'll be gone. History is written by the winners, so to speak.
Not if the local taxpayers have anything to do with it. Censorship certainly wont help.
I believe the term thay most aptly applies is "states rights". The federal govt should have no involvement over state/city owned land, and most certainly should not have any say over what is allowed to be remembered and what can and cant be memorialized. It would be a gross overstep to censor anyone on free speech grounds alone.
Why do some people fear free speech so much?

oh no, the guy who can't take any other opinion but his own thinks I'm a hack. What will I ever do?

Anyone else think that the rest of the world is sitting back and pointing and laughing at us for flipping our shite over such trivial things?
I don't think the rest of the world thinks about us as much as we assume they do. If they rest of the world is talking about the US, the conversation starts and ends with Trump...and the NFL

I'd love to see the votes that said all this stuff needs to come down.
There is a reason they've come down in heavily democrat areas.

And let's not even get started on the vandalism that happened in NC.
I agree the vandalism is ridiculous, regardless of which side you align.

With zero public vote. I'd say there's also a reason it's never gone on any public ballot.

OK, let's just cut to the chase.
We need to ignore history that took place place while slavery , Reconstruction or Jim Crow existed.
For these ignorant fricks, history begins after the Civil Rights Act was signed.

Most city centers were Democrat. I can't imagine there's a shite ton of Confederate statues hanging out in some park off Rural Rd 1896 in BFE.

I said it should be a local issue.

When I referenced the USA, I meant the current population, not the federal government. If the CSA would have won, I'm sure the current population would be hostile to Lincoln and Grant statues.

Alamo should come down too. Offensive to Mexicans.

Based on what?
I only see one political party trying to erase parts of history.

One world trade should come down too. Offensive to militant muslims.

no...
anything to do with the the CSA, it's generals, it's history, etc, should be remembered/memorialized in a museum.... anything to do with the USA, it's generals, it's history, etc, should be remembered/memorialized either in public or in a museum, depending on what the local taxpaying citizens want...
no reason to honor in memorial those that CHOSE to dishonor the US....
