This is true. This is the only reason I can stomach the movies being on. The plots are so terrible.
Each Christmas movie has the following:
1. woman moves to small quaint town
2. has a businees driven, a-hole/ controlling fiance/ boyfriend
3. meets a scarf and sweater wearing guy who just loves her interest in greeting cards, etc.
4. always some kind of contest for a float in a Christmas parade (of which the new guy loves to help, whereas a-hole boyfriend has "work to do")
5. perky old father / grandfather ready with life's advice
6. new guy has the perfect 10 year old daughter who just loves everything the main woman in the movie does. Plus said daughter is always willing to help out around the house, etc.
7. each house these people live in are immaculately decorated with $$$$$ of nice furniture.
8. always snow on the ground

They suck so bad but I like them.

It would be great to have a demystified script with all the same plot elements but the cliches pulled, leaving the main character simply confused and depressed like 90% of the population watching the hallmark channel.

Love them. Done outgrown blow em up, shoot em up, beat em up movies. Plus Mama likes them, bonus later.

My S.O. watches them and I'm usually in another room. The worst part is the crappy background music that plays constantly.

Yeah I can't figure out why I liked the one I happened to watch with the wifey last night...

Daniel Tosh did a good spoof of these movies. My wife loves them, but she admitted it was spot on.
"He's a humble, mildly autistic Christmas tree farmer. She's a hotshot CEO of a woman's protein bar company from the big city. They were polar opposites until fate made them collide."

My DVR is full of them every winter. My wife looks forward to it all year long. And for the Christmas in July. And everytime I watch the beginning of one I tell her exactly what's going to happen and she knows I'm right. It's always a business girl going to a small town where a guy has a small town job. And she always has a plan for that little town and that guy gets her to change her mind and that she ends up moving there and quitting her career. Or it's a business guy that doesn't like Christmas that comes to a Christmas Town to buy a struggling business and falls in love with the girl and quits his career. And they always have where there's a kid involved, and where the couple come face-to-face and are about ready to kiss but they don't.

I am certain that the only channel number my wife knows on the tv remote is Hallmark.

Wow, all of this. Is there money to be made in this niche? I can pump these movies out like a factory then.

I read this thread and turned on Hallmark, and everything so far is spot on. Hot AF Lacey Chabert is career focused in advertising or something

My favorite Christmas movie is A Hobo's Christmas. It was a CBS movie, not Hallmark, but it's a good one.

My wife watches them non-stop seems like. Five minutes into it, I know the plot. In the earlier part of my marriage I bitched and moaned about how horrible they were, but later on I realized that I got laid more if I pretended to like them. The fun now is trying to figure out something entertaining to do while they are on. I like the drinking game idea.

I like the one about the guy and the woman getting back together, just before Christmas...

Wife has them on non stop. Hated them at first cause of the plots now I find myself watching and getting invested to the point I can’t do anything until the movie is over
