re: Hair transplants, would you do it, or just go bald?

If you have about 60k saved to do multiple procedures through the years then go to a very reputable place and go for it. Otherwise just shave it.
I had one when I was 23. Cost 10k at Bosley. Don't remeber the specifics of the transfer. If I had more money for more treatments I would do it. But now I have a Jason Voorhees scar on the back my head and can't shave it.

Secondly, I'm currently taking a pill everyday that's about $13 bucks a month that has seemed to stop the loss and I'm in a holding pattern. If it ever worsens, I'll shave it. I can justify $13 a month to keep what I got.
How’s your manhood? That seems to be the trade off on those pills

I'm 50 and I've had about the same hairline as I was 20. I guess it's genetics, my 2 grandfathers had nice cotton ball hairs and my dad was never bald.
But if I was bald, I would shave it all off. Anything fake looks plain horrible and ridiculous. Even if you get implants it would never look natural and hair would still look thin.

My wife is a nurse at a place that does transplants.
Dr wanted a test dummy for a new machine they got and I volunteered.
They Didn’t take so it was a waste of time . Some was my fault (did a lot of activity 2 days after when I was supposed to lay low for a week) and some they think the plugs were shallow or some bs like that.
Won’t do it again

Guy I know did it. The plugs are still there but the rest of his hairs has started to fall out. The plugs have created a semi circle of hair on his forehead and nothing behind it. He looks silly.

I've heard good things about Turkey and hair transplant surgeries.
I'd like to say that I've also heard good things about dentistry/teeth whitening coming out of Turkey aswell

Losing the hair on your head is a sign of high testosterone, my hair line started to recede at 15 and I take it as a badge of manliness

eh i would just go bald. my hairline is receding and I'm losing my hair, but i would just let it go. it is just hair.
I remember in college roomates would pick on my receding hairline, but at 41 it is still there but severely thinning. Ill just let it go, seen some of those roomates who thought they were funny at 20, now at 41 it's all gone long before mine. frickers.

I have a lot more hair missing that that guy, so I'd imagine my transplant surgery recovery would suck. I dont think i could go to another country for surgery even if cheap.

What’s the name of the pill?

Lots of misinformation in this thread.
There are roughly 100, reputable hair transplant guys in the country. By that, I mean quasi-artists in the field who are completely dedicated to their craft...not chop shop flunkies at places like Bosley.
FUE and FUT are both entirely legit procedures that can work miracles for the hair-deprived. A good practitioner doing a fulsome job will run you $10-15K, depending on how many follicles they extract and transplant.
There are plenty of public examples of success, but I like the Seattle Sounders goalie, Stefan Frei. This guy went from - WTF, why going bald so young to Holy shite, it's the hair guy!

Why do you know all of this?

As folks have said, with any elective surgery, it’s all about who does it and how much you paid for it.
I got a hair transplant that cost a little over $10K. I make really good money, and I’m still young and have always been insecure about my hairline so frick it I did it. It took about a year to grow in, and at times looked weird, but now it looks sick and I get compliments all the time!
It’s the same thing with the girls who get bargain boob jobs vs the celebs who pay a fortune for them. Get the best there is or don’t do it at all. It’s not something to save costs on.
Also, you gotta go on propecia for life but that’s all good for me as I have no side effects from it.

Once worked with a guy that was going bald and in his early 40's so he decided to get a wig. He showed up at work one day sporting one of the biggest pompadour style wigs I've ever seen. It was so big it looked like a caricature of Elvis Presley's hairstyle. He eventually got another one WAY more appropriate, if wearing a wig is appropriate.
The oddest thing I've seen from a balding guy is when Raymond van Barneveld, a 5 time Darts World Champion decided to get hair plugs. Then after the procedure and things were taking root well, he decided to damn near shave his head to where it's just maybe 1/8 inch of stubble. Seems a waste of money to me.
Then there's the dreaded "combover" that fools absolutely nobody and is truly ridiculous looking.

frick that shite. My hair probably starting thinning at 18 or so (biologically), but nothing was noticable until probably early 20s. For too long I tried to hold on and kept the distance between haircuts the same... now that I am 36 I have just dealt with it better and better - this all being within the last several years.
I will never go full cue ball look, but I keep it at a 1 guard and it's fine. Luckily my head shape isn't terrible and I can grow a good beard that I always keep at a 3.
