You're talking about the earth's light and our distance to the earth
The earth appears quite bright from an airplane. I mean, you can see it from up there, correct? So there must be light coming from its surface. We can even give it a very low value like 0.1 lux from 36k feet. So at 18k feet it would be 0.4 lux, right?

look no farther than the appearance of the the phrase 'trust the science' when the purpose of science is to quest it. you don't 'trust' it because for all our knowledge we really know nothing.
When you look at the psychology of it, it's understandable. Not to mention all of the BS floating around out there that's easily accessible (i.e. YT videos, movies, etc)

I have a friend that is like that. One of my better friends who is also hilarious. We all thought he was messing with us and playing along until one night at the bar. He went into detail in his theories about NASA being part of an organization designed to bring down Christianity and some war that has been waging for 500 years. Again, we were like nice troll job.
Then a week later, he sent a documentary that was 2+ hours long about a couple of his theories and was like hour 2 is where it gets really interesting. This guy has 5 kids and a great job and is reasonably smart. We make fun of him now for his theories but the sad thing is his shite gets closer and closer to the truth by the day.

Put him in a plane to see the horizon for himself. International flight at 40k feet does it.
If defies his eyes, have him meet someone in Melbourne Australia or South Africa and explain why they are wearing coats to stay warm while he is sweating his azz off this time of year. Does sun's heat disperse unevenly on this flat Earth?
For that matter, why is the sun round? Moon? Yet, Earth takes its own shape different from celestial bodies around it? Why dat is?
Have him talk to any sea farer.
Have him show you the Earth's edge on Google map or explain why its creators are in on his flat Earth theory.
Can't get 25 people to agree on most things, yet hundreds of millions of people, in current time and past time, would have had to conspire to hide this flat Earth design. I was just visiting a monument to those who died trying to get to South Pole these last few hundred years. What a complex conspiracy!
Have him work at global logistics company like Fedex, UPS, DHL, Amazon to find these edges he proclaims.
Have him explain the poles and electromagnetism...seasons, why the need for satellites, and many more.

While at sea, I saw the sky turn green as the sun went down over the horizon. In short, the sun was shining through the water due to the curvature of the Earth.
Additionally, I have watched the masts of ships disappear over that same curvature.
Lastly, you can use math to determine the curve you are WITNESSING when that mast sinks over the horizon.

Just want to go on record as saying you are batshit crazy. But Im just interested in your explanation as to how this works considering the sun is over 100 times bigger than the earth. What sort of mental gymnastics to you have to go through to reconcile this?

What’s the radius of light coming from the sun? Because based on that model shown we should get say close to 100% of the time most of the norther hemisphere.
We know in summer in the Southern Hemisphere the days get longer but based on that map the sun is away from each continent much longer on the outside ring of travel.
