re: GWU students vote to remove colonial mascot

As an alumnus of the law school I would extremely disappointed if they chose to remove the Colonial mascot.
And, I couldn't agree more that the alumni (especially those of us that give frequently) should have more say in this than just the current students. However, this is not an actual action by the administration but rather just a vote by the students and has no impact, currently. We will see how the administration reacts to this very close vote of the students
It is absurd to project racism on the name colonials. At this point what isn't racist, and all the people trying to project racism are more divisive than what they attack. If they are successful, I assume GW will become the river horses (which is the unofficial mascot of GW).

I'd think alumni would get a vote also. They are just as much a part of the university, maybe more so, than present day students who might never even graduate from there. I wouldn't care about a percentage of flunkies who couldn't hack it in having any sayso about the situation.

That’s crazy... I’m a GW grad for PA school and hadn’t heard about that, but I also forgot my GW email password so that might be why

Funny. My niece goes to school there. She's slowing morphing into someone that it's hard to be around...... cultural appropriation, everything is racist, etc, etc.
