The itching goes away. If you only have stubble after 3 weeks, you probably can't grow a full beard.
Tip, let it grow for 4 - 6 weeks without shaving or shaping and then you can shape it the way you want.

Actually, mine started a few years back when I took a trip to Wyoming without my wife. I let it grow and when I came home, she was deeply drawn to it. I haven't shaved clean since. I also noticed more women taking notice of me and my wife can't keep her hands off of me.
Honestly, I think the whole beard thing started from guys wanting to be like me.

I have not shaved in 22 years, and never once have I had an issue with my beard. It never bothered any woman I dated. It never bothered my wife.
