Advancements in modern defensive ammo technology have helped the 9mm improve by leaps and bounds over the past 30 years; it’s not the same underpowered round that the FBI abandoned in the early 1980s.

Why does the cop have more than 10 bullets? I thought nobody needed that many.

One round off that .500 S&W in your dark house will leave you temporarily blind and possibly deaf. There's much better options out there.

I believe he is talking about the Mozambique drill, it can be called the “failure” drill. That drill is two in center mass, one in the head.

WTF is the failsafe drill? Google didn't help me. Link?

Try searching for failure to stop drill. Like someone said, it’s formally called the Mozambique Drill, and is a traditionally taught concept when there is no concern for background casualties in the event the headshot is a miss. Double tap center of mass, follow with headshot.

From what I have seen, if the cop fired 11 rounds, they would have been lucky to hit the guy 3-4. Cops are the worst. More dangerous with guns than most children.

Except for Tony Montana most just fall after the first shot.

But civilians only “need” one or two rounds to protect ourselves.

Never shoot a large caliber man with a small caliber bullet.

Had a friend of a friend put 8 rounds center mass at very close range on a guy trying to rob him and the robber still managed to get a shot or two off afterwards and hit the victim in the leg. The robber died, but not before putting up a fight.

Stopping power is a myth when it comes to common pistols. Even if all rounds hit center mass, a human amped up on adrenaline and with a strong will to live/fight could be a deadly threat for a considerable period of time

This is why you don't stop pumping them with lead until they are on the ground and not moving

You’re correct in that “stopping power” is largely a myth. However, some pistol rounds have a greater first shot incapacitation chance than others. For example you’re far more likely to incapacitate someone if you shoot them in the chest with something like a .357 or .45 than a .22 or .380. That’s not it say it’s a for sure thing that the larger rounds will stop them on the first shot any more than it’s for sure the smaller ones won’t. Rather it’s a matter of the odds. This really should be the measuring stick instead of the mythical “stopping power”.

Yep, same as fail-safe drill.
You have to practice it to be proficient.

Hope you live alone. You’re gonna to kill a family member shooting through 2-3 walls. You might as well shoot someone with a .50 BMG round. That’s a shitty home defense weapon. But to each his own I guess.

That's why my CCW is a Glock 26 with a Glock 19 magazine and X Grip sleeve with hot 147gr JHP. Heavy-for-caliber ammo is the philosophy I subscribe to when it comes to defensive ammo.

It's even cuter when some try-hard baw announces he's using a gun better used for a backup hunting bears in Alaska as his home defense choice. I have a Desert Eagle in 50 AE and will be the last choice of several handguns for a home invasion. I'll slam a clip into my Garand and fix a bayonet before grabbing the DE.
