He retired from his job as a park ranger, was having trouble with his wife and they have been separated for a few months since April I believe.

The guy had been coming to church off and on with my family for a long time. He has two kids with his wife and their both fairly young.

He was on medication for being bipolar and last night around 12 o clock he took a gun and put it in his mouth and killed himself. He was in his late 40s.

Its very sad, he was a great guy to me. He always said hello and asked me how I was doing.

Horrible thing for his loved ones to deal with. There's almost always a better way.

I'm so sorry you have to deal with this.
Suicide of a friend or family member is a different kind of grief. I just can't explain it and unless you've experienced it, you just don't know. So sad and leaves literally hundreds of questions unanswered forever.

That's why no one should attempt it with anything less than a .40 cal, unless hollow points

it's a selfish act, also, it's sad to think a person has come to the conclusion that it's their best option

Sorry to hear that. Praying for his family...I can't imagine how the lives of those kids have changed from his choice. With friends and family members who have battled bipolar...I can say that this guy's struggle was hard. There is so much undiagnosed bipolar out there.

He was going forward asking for repentance about once a month. I think He had a lot of demons.

Permanent solution to a temporary problem. Most sincere suicides just don't see it that way.

(This excludes a good number who are terminally ill, making an end-of-life decision. I'm still not in agreement with those folks, but I definitely understand them better and classify them differently.)

Have another story of a grandma who bought a 38 for "protection" shot herself 3 times before she succeeded

You mean a shotgun. Put it in your mouth pointing up, resting on the ground. Pull the trigger with your toe. Will literally blow your head off. Two people i know that did the deed did it that way. Sucks for the family member that finds them and can't recognize anything but there's blood and brain everywhere.

Shut the frick up with this bullshite. Can you comprehend how hard it is to make that decision? Destroying one's self is the opposite of being selfish.

Don't get me wrong, I can see the argument for "those left behind". But these people obviously don't believe that their friends and family care that much for them in the first place.

That's too bad. His poor kids/wife will never be the same.
