I bet Owlie could take you.

Anyhoots. The real difference is old man strength comes from fight or flight response. He's fighting for his life while young bucs are usually drunk and assuming old man will be docile.
You should never fight an older man.

paw paw turned valves for 30 years in the oil fields after being in WW2, and boxed in high school and in the Army. He died at 88 a few years ago.

Damned near the same situation. He was a gauger for a long long time. At age 85 he developed a tremor in his hand they had to check out. I brought him, and I'm not a small guy by any means.

This young buck of a doctor asked him a few questions and held out his hand and told him to grab on an pull as hard as he could.

Paw paw says, "I don't won't to hurt you boy"

Doctor laughs looks at me and says "I think I'll be alright."

Took every damned ounce of willpower I had not to start laughing.

So paw paw reached out, grabbed this guy's hand, asked if he was ready, and yanked his 200lb arse out the chair and damned near into his lap.

I'm laughing, the nurse is laughing. Paw paw is asking if the doc's alright. He calmly stands up and says, "strength in that arm isn't a problem."

Coming into my mid 30s, I'm starting to understand it. I'm nowhere close to any of my maxes in the gym, except deadlift. 18 year old me would feel like a baby back bitch if he could see me deadlift.

But that kid literally could not get hurt, I'm careful these days

Retard strength is NGAF about hurting yourself in the process of overpowering someone else.

The funniest fight I've ever witnessed was with a bully that was held back two years, and a kid with a learning disability. The slow kid was good as gold and a teacher's son. One epic morning the bully decided to push the slow kid a few times in the chest. Before anyone could step in or react, the slow kid proceeded to shoot for a double leg and drop the bully. He pushed for a full mount and proceeded to beat the shite out of the him. The teachers didn't even step in until after the life lesson taught. After that the prick was humble throughout school.

There was a big guy on the H.S. Basketball Team.1 yr older than me.If you got in a rebound situation where you both had the ball,he would sling you around like a rag doll.

The Coach would blow the whistle and he'd stop. This was for everyone's protection.

He's one of the most accomplished Eye Surgeons in the Country now.Goes around doing free eye surgery.

Grown man or old man strength is more about knowledge of proper body and lifting mechanics. Young guys try to use brute strength when lifting objects and struggle doing so. Grown men learn to use leverage over time and use less strain to lift more.

It’s not muscle memory that produces strength, it’s muscle maturity.
It takes years to fully mature a muscle for it to reach its peak abilities.

It's a loose/loose situation for a 20-25 year old to fight someone over 40.

If you win, congrats.... you beat up an old man.

If you lose, congrats an old man whooped your arse.

I'm 42, my son is 15 and works out everyday. He can move some weight in the gym but when it comes to stuff where you have to be strong I got him beat by a long ways.

At almost 40, I’m easily the strongest i have ever been.

I think after lifting weights since i was 11 probably helps with muscle maturity but it just way way easier to get strong at this stage of my life

There are 2 proper strength terms. Old man strength. And retard strength.

There are times I think that I am starting to become more mature and civilized in my middle age.

Then I laugh like a middle schooler at stuff like this and my wife reminds me that I am still a child.

Fast twitch muscle fibers degenerate with abuse/rest cycle.

Long firing muscle grow with abuse/rest.

Over time this is why you see those who train consistently continue static strength gaining activities but decreasing in motive strength abilities.

Never stop laughing at stuff like this. If you do, you've become a old fogie.

When I was 41, my 20 year-old son (gym-rat) tries to strong arm me in the hallway, and we start horsing around, well I'm two months into P90X and holding my own, we are both giggling and exculating the pressure.... when I feel my energy fading and I start losing ground, I just grab him by the balls and squeeze... GAME OVER.. I won.... he tells me that was a life lesson in old man strength and old man wisdom.
