Man, I think it would be great if grocery store owners were to take at least 50% (hell, 80% really) of the profits over the last month and next couple of months and divy it out to the low man on the totem poles. They are working and stressed. They don't make a lot but damn if they are not worth more than what they've historically been paid.

my time as a stockboy in a store was some of the most enjoyable time i've ever had in a job. yeah you don't get paid much but if you're a people person you get to meet a lot of people and it's shocking how many people are actually appreciative when you take a minute to help them out

I know the one my wife works at has pulled almost 250k in the last 4 days - sucks people have to go in, but the alternative would be catastrophic for people

<———Had a couple of girlfriends when we all were in High School together who worked at Grocery Stores.

They got precisely what you suggested from me.

Agreed. Lots of people giving praise to obvious occupations stressed out by this (ex: healthcare workers, first responders, etc)

More praise needs to be given to these workers as well.

I agree- unsung heroes, regardless of whether you think this is overblown or not. Hopefully they’re taken care of.

I agree. All of them have been amazing in our area given the circumstances.

They're working non stop making $15 an hour MAX all while having a higher risk of catching this than probably anyone outside of medical professionals.

Yet shoppers are even bigger assholes now than usual. Retail is a thankless job.

My biggest account has armed private security, and they apparently had to stop people from going crazy at the front door this morning before opening. People are fricking ridiculous.

It's tough to be nice under the circumstances in which they have to work.

50% is absurd, but I wouldn't he surprised if nicer, family owned places like HEB gave workers a bonus of some sort.

Our local store was FANFREAKINGTASTIC ... there were SO many people restocking shelves. A nice lady asked if I needed help finding something and I said no I was just trying to stay out of her way so she could do her job. I noticed she had an Associated Grocers shirt on -- she said she was from the BR warehouse here helping as this small town store had gotten two full trucks.

I went down the bread aisle and they had NO "regular" loaf bread of any brand. I finished my shopping, got to the checkout and the lady behind me had a loaf of Evangeline Maid. Yeah, I went with a quickness to get a loaf and man, there must have been 100 loaves restocked after I left that aisle.

They're doing a kick arse job for sure.
