Am I the only one who's surprised by how enjoyable working from home actually is?

Let's review the pros:
1. Sleeping in later because there's no commute
2. No aggravation from fighting the traffic or waiting to drop kids off at school
3. Wearing comfortable clothes to work
4. Working at your own pace, setting your own priorities
5. Taking a break to walk the dog or go to the fridge whenever you want
6. Actually being more productive at your job than you were before due to no interrupting coworkers and all "this could have been an email" meetings actually being emails
7. Saving money by not buying gas to drive to work

Obviously the circumstances behind it are horrible, but working from home itself isn't half bad!

Right on. I haven't had a chance to do that since I stopped working as a forklift operator.

Do it full time for 8 years like me, then report back.

Don't get me wrong, it definitely has its perks. But I'd kill to be in the office most days.

Without the normal office bullshitting I'm really putting in 3-4 hour days and getting more work done.

I don't think I'd like doing this full time.

Why would you be surprised by this? Working from home is awesome

Right now, the major downside of working from home would be the distraction of having your kids/spouse home (if you have kids/spouse). The other downside of working from home, is the lack of social interaction, which in typical times could be alleviated by being social in your free time, but currently is really a bummer.

I do, but old enough to do schoolwork basically independently and understand that I need some uninterrupted time to do my job.

I can see how working from home with a preschooler would be a whole other ball of wax.

Agreed! I'm only reveling in the novelty of it all for my own sanity... this has me seriously rethinking the idea of ever fully retiring.

Okay, done. I've been working from home for 8 of the 10 years that I've been out of college.

frick that. Don't get me wrong, I get to travel for work on occasion and I enjoy the change of pace that brings, but there's no fricking way that I'd rather be in an office every day. It would take a substantial raise (probably 40%) for me to even consider taking a job that requires me to work from an office.

I had to work from home five weeks last year after my disc replacement surgery. I was going bonkers by week three.

This week is week three for me again. I can feel the crazy coming....

Ideal for me would be two days in the office, three at home.
