By big ones, you mean dead bodies? I'm sure you might catch 1 or 2, especially with river current full steam ahead.

Remember, if it still has 6 fingers or more, you have to throw it back.

When the water is this high, you have to be carefull. You don't want receding water to leave evidence high and dry somewhere.

Uh..or so I've been told.

Answering for a friend. Yeah that's it.

How does that saying go? The worst day fishing is better than the best day at work.

It's best to dig holes into the levee to anchor your poles while you sit and wait.

What kind of fish could one expect to catch in the Mississippi in Baton Rouge?

I lived there my entire life until 18 and I don't think I've ever seen someone catch anything out there.

Sidenote: In high school we once tied ropes to our waists and the other end to trees and waded into the water on the levee in this spot where the water kind of came into a flat area. God that was fricking stupid.

Not sure in BR, but you could catch decent sized blue catfish on the levee a little ways past Algiers Point. It used to be a bunch of black dudes and one token white guy (me) every weekend during the summer
