In Argentina the banks adjust loan payments based on inflation. Earlier this year while there folks on the street would give you double the Argentinian pesos per dollar as the official exchange rate stated because they were trying to get all their cash in to a more stable currency.

Yea, which doesn't include those "volatile" fuel and food prices which is mostly what affects average citizens.
On many everyday items the real inflation rate is well over 100%.
For instance, a pack of 140 coated paper plates at Walmart were 2 dollars and some odd cents 2 years ago.
Now those same paper plates are $11.20: Paper plates Walmart
