Why is he not facing a failure to maintain control, or a reckless operation, or something? He hit a human.

You or I would face charges.

Pretty much 100% of law enforcement officers.

trauma team jackpot. anytime there is a liability case, the hospital can charge $23K + for getting the trauma team ready. GIPD insurance will get stuck with the bill, plus another $30K for AirMed, $25K for every test in the book.

Why air lift then?

Cops and media have started using the "non-life threatening injuries" description a lot, and many interpret it as the victim was just banged up a little. Bumps and bruises.

But the term includes anything not expected to kill your arse. That old gal might have an eyeball hanging out of her head by a thread, searing pain in her spine, a couple of severed fingers, and fractures of all four limbs, and the cops and evening news would just tell us her injuries were non-life threatening.

if you're on a beach without many people around, it's a really good idea to stay awake and aware of vehicular traffic.

WTF? That's just bizarre logic to me. On a lonely stretch of beach that is closed to vehicular traffic, you need to be aware of vehicular traffic? That's gotta be one of the last things any normal person is thinking about.

what do you want him to be charged with? They patrol the beach so he wasn't somewhere he wasn't suppose to be. Accidents without charges happen all the time assuming none of the involved parties were drunk/speeding, etc

I hate beaches that allow vehicular traffic. Keep your car off the beach.

I was cruising down a little-used beach one day (it's mostly an abandoned road) with the Sun in my eyes and suddenly realized there were 3 or 4 oblivious senior citizens standing around giving zero fricks about the truck coming their way. To make matters worse, they was naked. Just standing around naked, old and fat, giving zero fricks about the truck coming towards them

So I have a cocktail now and then. What's it to you?

Who said it was closed to vehicular traffic? Your post makes no sense.

There are currently no beaches open to vehicular traffic in, near, or around Grand Isle.
