One less over-protected, non-wild bear

I watched that, and now I am sad.

The OT’s opinion of grizzly’s and African animals is totally wild to me. A site that’s extremely right wing in most areas, seems to be okay with white tail hunting or turkey hunting, but god forbid someone shoot a bear or lion.

Not that hard for people with any common sense. Deer and turkeys are animals very commonly consumed by humans. Bears and lions, not so much. If you are hunting bears and lions then you are a trophy hunting POS, imo.

I look down on trophy hunting. Everyone should.

quote:What? The grizzlies went from over 50,000 in the US to fewer than 1000 and humans were doing fine. We're not dependent on grizzlies and they will become a nuisance of they aren't already in the western states.
We’re all connected. The human race is super dependent on all wild animals

Bears and Mountain Lions are absolutely eaten by hunters and are delicious
Aside from that, sustainable harvest of all game animals should be a priority
California used to give out like 50 mountain lion permits annually. They canceled the season. Now, the state is having to kill 50-75+ nuisance lions annually....

Obviously almost any animal can be eaten, but you'll never convince me that the vast majority of people that hunt bears, etc. aren't doing it for a mount, a rug, or to show off/brag. I know way too many rednecks that are obsessed with killing animals merely for sport like the jackasses in this very thread that said they would have loved to have killed this beloved grizzly bear that was admired by hundreds of thousands of people...

You are absolutely unhinged
You’re ‘heartbroken’ because a bear that you’ve never met nor seen before was hit by a car?
Sounds to me like you are are up with the social media disease. Seek help

Grizzlies are still protected, but they shouldn’t be. 10 years ago, maybe even 5 years ago, it would be unheard of for 399 to be roaming the Snake River canyon. It wasn’t until she had her 4 cubs that she made her first appearance in the middle of town.
The habitat can only support so many grizzly bears. There isn’t a large amount of development going on outside of very specific areas. 97% of the land in Teton County is public land. That is more than enough for wildlife. There are too many grizzlies which is pushing these bears into areas which they haven’t inhabited in a long, long time.
Most hunters out west get a black bear tag just in case one happens upon them while they are field dressing their animal.
