He knows. It you ever mentioned the possibility of shutting down Grambling you get attacked and called a racist. Doesnt matter how detrimental that school is to its students.
just to remind people of old news
quote:
Across America, many historically black colleges and universities are having a rough time making it. The most recent added to this list is the historic Southern University in Baton Rouge, La. Still trying to recover from the impact of Hurricane Katrina, the campus is plagued with water-damaged and gutted buildings.
Now the university has to deal with a proposal by Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal to consolidate the school with the nearby, mostly white University of New Orleans. Jindal’s proposal reflects an attitude that has manifested in all the 20 or so states that have public, four-year historically black colleges and universities. On the record, Gov. Jindal stated, “It makes no sense to have colleges blocks apart, neither one of them with graduation rates we can accept.”
UNO is 27% black. How many non-hbcu colleges can say that?

Still double the 5% graduation rate of Southern, which is the LOWEST graduation rate of any university in the entire country!!!

On one hand it isn't surprising, but on the other hand it is sad. Considering the value of a degree from Grambling, that is insane.
I understand that many people who attend Grambling are from poor families who can't afford to send their kids to college, but for those who go to Grambling who can get into better schools, they would be better off going to a trade school. I am not familiar with Grambling in terms of what they offer, but I can see if someone is going into Engineering or something.. Who wasn't able to get into another school, but let's say someone has a.... History degree from Grambling, what can you do with that?

"There is no auditing to be done at Grambling because there are no books kept at Grambling." - Legislative auditor report on what happened to money earmarked for beautification of the campus.

Be an assistant manager at Walgreens. About 70% of degrees are worthless nowadays from just about any school

bullshite. Nobody forces these people to borrow money.
Place the blame where it belongs, on the goddamn fiscally irresponsible students and the parents and teachers who raised them for 18 years without understanding what debt is.

Relax, psycho. Predatory lending and government student loans are pretty much universally agreed to be a terribly system.
