What does that mean? How did New Orleans shut down the entire state?

That area has basically all the cases yet people are still out partying in the quarter. Now all the restaurants, bars etc are closed statewide. I live 4 hours from New Orleans. Oh well. New Orleans and Baton Rouge ruin everything for the rest of the state all the time anyway. Nothing new. That’s why we have Edwards in the first place.

LA has experienced the sharpest spike in cases in the US over the past couple of days, so it makes sense. Although, I feel like every cook needs to be tested before handling food or else you are doing nothing by "closing the restuarants"

Stay inside your fricking houses before the whole state is infected.

The government types don't give a frick. It's a pig pile and the race to out do the next moron is on. I've never seen something so ridiculous in my life. Your dad should just open and frick the haters.

I honestly hope that is the case because the other scenario will be devastating to health care and the economy

Outside of health care, the economy is already devastated because our politicians and officials everywhere are bitches.

Exposure happened over Mardi Gras. Shouldn’t we be seeing hospitals overrun and bodies in the street by now??

Yes. But that would mean the pandemic that will kill everyone isn’t as bad as they say and it doesn’t justify crippling the economy so they have to triple down

but I have a bad feeling it's a lot worse in Nola than what we know now

It’s probably going to get worse before it gets better. My ol lady, a nurse who is scheduled to work tomorrow, got a call from her nurse friends currently there saying that if she has any n95 masks at home to bring them in to use. One of the receiving employees on the hospital dock stole their shipment to sell on the black market. By the time they narrowed down which employee it was and arrested him he had unloaded almost the whole thing. So now there’s about to be a shortage of nurses who are unwilling to go in without proper PPE.

No. I am not going to stop. I work at an ICU that will soon be flooded with patients in serious condition because people like you think this is some cold.

Do you really think this is just going to "go away" if we stop addressing it? Because if we don't do anything and carry on like nothing is happening, shite is going to hit the fan.

However, if we keep rolling out precautions like this, everyone on here will say it was a huge overreaction. I honestly hope that is the case because the other scenario will be devastating to health care and the economy

Yesterday I would have said you are part of the over reacting problem.
Today, I agree with you 100%

don’t understand the logic of leaving workplaces open (where people stay for 8+ hours) and closing restaurants and movie theaters (where people stay for 2 hours)

The average number of people coming and going in that time frame is substayhigher for restaurants than normal businesses

Restaurants should just stay open anyway and dare Governor Dumbass to do something about it.

This.

I’m all for being rational and taking some precautions but these Governors are racing to see who can jump the most sharks.

A lot of people aren't taking this seriously and it shows.

Until this is way more deadly than the Swine Flu, ebola virus or even the regular flu and the homeless start to drop dead in the streets because of Covid-19... not many people will take it as serious as you and the rest of the news media are hyping it out to be.
