I saw it referenced in other posts and just assumed.

But how do you know? You don't write papers..

He also doesn't know how World War 1 started or who was on each side. And yet he wants to teach history.

He doesn't go to Vanderbilt. That's just the logo he chose. His user name suggests Arky. That seems more likely.

Didn't even have to check his explanation for plagiarism. That shite came straight from somewhere in his imagination

He doesn't have to admit shite. If it's the same paper then the prof has all the proof she needs.

There is some VERY bad advice in this thread.
OP, the professor is NOT A COP. She has irrefutable proof that you plagiarized. She doesn't need you to admit anything.
It doesn't matter how much you deny. If her plagiarism detector returned a 99% match, then you cheated.
Do NOT walk into her office with an attitude. Do NOT walk in being defensive and denying. Do NOT try to verbally, mentally, or physically intimidate her. Do NOT ignore her request for the meeting; it won't make it go away.
The only thing you can do is be contrite and apologize. Hell, maybe she'll just make you redo it. Maybe she'll fail you. Those are best case scenarios.
Do not go in with Law and Order TV suspect bullshite. It will just piss her off and she'll push to have you kicked out.

you should go into politics

I'll let you weigh the pros and cons of lying for yourself, but you owe it to the girl to shield her from blame and just say it was in a stack of notes she took the semester before that she gave you to study from, not cheat from, before the class started.

Tell the teacher that the girl helped you write the paper and suggested you write on the same topic since she had already researched it. Although it turned out the same, that was not your intention and you did put in the work. You guys had short discussions throughout and came to the same conclusions. Essentially you guys wrote the paper together and shared ideas.

it's not the I hate writing meaningful papers. I'm talking about a class tgat forces me to write 4 4 page papers when it's over bull shite.
If you're a senior, you ought to have a pretty good connection for Adderall now. Hit a couple of those, and you should be able to pump out 4 pages on absolutely any topic without even noticing.

actual professor here
i caught a student doing the same exact thing you did
i wrote her a strong email that
-her paper was exactly like one i graded last semester, word for word, from another girl in her sorority
-that while this might not be enough proof of plagiarism (it was), the university usually sides with the professor under these circumstances
-we have two options 1) go to university dean for a hearing which could mean expulsion if shes found guilty or 2) take a 0/100 on the paper
she emailed me back a few minutes later pleading for a zero and apologizing profusely.

quote:to the original op I've already decided I'm just going to tell the teacher that she let me view her paper as a guide to writing my own and that in an act of laziness and stress I decided to copy her paper and only make a few slight changes and that she deserves zero blame for what I did. I will then tell her how I know it's wrong and I'll never do it again, and that I was just really stressed had alot on my plate and made a mistake I regret.

Wait is this four (4) papers that are only four (4) pages???
Good thing you don't have any legit lab classes. Four pages gtfo

most professors dont want to get the dean involved, its a headache for us too. paperwork, time, etc
so the 0 on the assignment is what i am assuming will be the result

You deserve to be expelled...sorry.
Hit reset for a year or two and hopefully you can work your way back in. I just find it remarkable you would turn something in that is practically a word-for-word duplicate.
